It’s honestly funny seeing some Flames fans on Twitter right now romanticize the Johnny/Monny/Gio/Chucky era of the Flames just because of how bad the current team is playing. That era of the Flames was mostly mediocre too lol. The best seasons we got from that core was 2019 and 2022 and they choked massively against the Avs in 2019 and got their #### pushed in by the Oilers last year. We as fans just had a stronger connection to those players, but the team results were the same

1) They didn't get their #### pushed in by the Oilers last year, Markstrom choked hard and Sutter blew it by not going with Vladar.
2) Johnny/Chucky were at the very least fun to watch, even in losses.
3) This team is boring trash

I don’t disagree with 2 or 3. But it wasn’t just Marky playing bad as to why they lost that Oilers series. The defense wasn’t great and the Oilers top 6 outscored the Flames top 6. Draisaitl had 17 points in 5 games ffs

Really?
5.12 GGA - .852 SV% in 5 games, that is bad, epic bad.
Draisaitl was gifted half of those points by one player and that player was Markstrom.
Even in the regular season where he was great he sucked against the Oilers with a 3.54 GAA and a .884 SV% in 4 games, Oilers are his kryptonite.
