This too. Way to make yourself look like a complete jackass. You done ####ed up already. Own it. Oh now you learned what a timeout is? You're making it worse.

That's a real week 1 special right there.

After 3 failed red zones and two fumbles from the 1, the logic is that a 2 yard run is off the cards....But Wilson is all about passing to TE's and Denver has 4 of them so that's a safe bet.

Even if they fail on 4th down, with 3 time outs they'd get the ball back, albeit maybe at their 10 with a handful of seconds.

But come on, even when Carroll and Wilson were at odds the last couple years, he would trust Russ to get 3 yards and a first down.

Those 12 penalties for 106 yards didn’t help Denver and the opposition is only going to get better. That red zone playcalling, the end of game stuff, man Hackett really pooped the bed. Good to get that out of the way I guess.

The internet is mostly calling for him to be fired immediately. Fickle

Between the shocking amount of avoidable penalties, multiple failed shotgun goal-line run attempts, the goal-line fumbles, the decision to try a record setting FG instead of trusting your new $200M+ QB to get 5 yards, the clock management and the petty delaying of the game at the end, I don't know if I've ever been more confused watching a game in my life

It was a horrible night for Hackett, but so many coaches just botch clock management that he's not alone. Every team should have a dedicated clock management specialist to help the coach.

He also effed it up in the 1st half after the 2 yard QB sneak.

Well Denver managed the clock horribly but that’s not why they kicked the field goal. They ran out of downs. I guess they could have kicked it with about a minute left and got the ball back after a miss if they saved all of their TO’s but that’s a long shot.

But really they kicked the FG because they couldn’t make a first down. There was plenty of time.

There was also the end zone toe touch that could have been reviewed which was passed up. On the Manning broadcast they didn't really show many replays of it but it looked pretty close. I don't know if they had more/better looks on the main broadcast.

With the 183 random people in team golf shirts hanging around NFL sidelines, I assume one or two of them are that, as well as analyitics guys and everyrhing else under the sun. 3 different assistants and various "quality control" specialists etc.

Still the head coaches final call whether to listen to those guys, especially in the heat of the moment.

The bigger narrative is that in the first game, the rookie head coach didn't trust the new face of the franchise to get 3 yards and a first down. With all the analysis on how and when the Seahawks started to lose faith in Wilson over the last few years, and subtly didn't let him "cook" as seasons went on and how that angered Wilson more and more, Hacket did one better...game 1, crucial situation, shows less faith in Wilson, overtly on MNF in front of the football world, than the Seahawks ever did.

I think it was 5 yards not 3 . But why you don't call time out, and attempt a play there was strange. Although the kicker didn't miss by much. But trying that kick from that spot with that many timeouts left is baffling.

GWC had punting (I assume right at 1 minute) as a slightly better choice than kicking the FG. So that was, without hyperbole, one of the worst decisions we will see in this or any other season. Made even worse by the fact Russ has a great conversion rate on fourth down in that range.

Ha ha stupid Broncos. That has to be one of the all-time worst head coaching debuts. Hackett may turn out to be a good head coach but boy did he ever look green last night.

They probably do just like every team has replay specialists that haven't stopped head coaches from making foolish challenges. Head coaches need to trust their analysts more when it comes to stuff like this and have them call in the time outs.

"After getting universally derided for one of the poorest decisions in recent NFL history, I'd probably do it differently". Well hey at least he might learn so credit there, I guess.

I would rather a head coach admit to a mistake than remain steadfast in ignorance.

Well I'm glad he finally figured out in hindsight what was painfully obvious to everyone in real-time...I still can't believe what I watched in that final minute.

Does Brownie also like to sexually assault dozens of women? If yes, he’ll fit right in.

Besides being awful it bares a striking resemblance to the gremlin from that episode of the simpsons, which of course was based on the twilight zone.
