Default 2023 NHL Draft Thread

May Update:

One word, as Peter Loubardias would say, "look out".

Talked with CP's outstanding residential NHL draft specialist Sandman and I've put together his awesome prospect profiles (so far) on our website - Upside Hockey.

Have them in the order of our most recent lottery edition rankings.

Check it out at:

With Flames offseason so boring ; ) deciding to fire up a thread dedicated to the super intriguing 2023 Draft, even if the Flames are obviously & not surprisingly headed into rebuild mode.

The top 4 promise to be sensational with plenty of talent beyond that. But there is much hockey yet to be played...but never too early to look at the next wave of talent striving to make it to the big league.

I just hope we keep our 1st.

Should get a solid player no matter where we end up picking in the top 32.

I saw Matthew Wood on there with 45 goals and 40 assists in 46 games, at 6’3” 185, and this was the first highlight I found:

The Hlinka tournament gets underway this weekend in Red Deer with a lot of the big names for 2023 participating.

Should be a good one to watch.

Quentin Musty is as good a hockey name as I’ve seen.

I know we're just getting a preliminary look, but as a guy who closely follows the draft every year-this crop looks dynamite.

Also a really draft class from the Dub - amazing WHL representation; be a great season to check out some Hitmen games.

Couldn't agree more. While nice to sit in the top 3 or 4 draft slot, looks be some real nice value throughout.

Benson is an interesting name, led Winnipeg in playoff scoring playing on a team with two top 11 already drafted forwards as a 16 year old.

What's up with Slovakia producing great prospects again lately? I have always had a soft spot for Slovaks. It's a small country and not quite as affluent as other hockey countries, but they love the game.

This will be the second draft in a row where they are providing projected top 5 picks.

For all the draft junkies, McKenzie's top 16 and 4 honourable mentions.

1 D-man in the top 16.
