Makes me a bit sad because I'd much rather have Fiala than Toffoli...but doubt Fiala was available at the deadline last year.
Great pick up for LA IMO.

Great add for the Kings. Fiala had a career year by far and it will be interesting to see if he can get near that again but he is a solid player and is only 25.

Seems like very good value for a mid 1st rounder in a mediocre draft.

This should set Tkachuk's value.
1st + decent roster player + quality prospect.

@FriedgeHNIC
I believe Fiala extension will come in approx $7.9M AAV

Not good news for the Flames as an up and coming division rival just got better.

Faber is a solid D prospect as well. He should be an NHLer

Something must be wrong with Fiala. He gets passed around like a hot potato.

So is the certain pending UFA, if I'm interpreting the poster correctly.

Wow. Am I that out of touch with the NHL? Fiala had a great year but 8 million/ year?

Remember, Fiala's power button is on the back of his head so you can turn him off with a simple cross check to to it

He's 25 (soon to be 26) so seven years pretty well covers all of his prime years. Still a lot of money for him as he's been a consistent 20 goal player coming off a career season.

Wild have a rough cap situation thanks to the Parise and Suter buyouts next year. Fiala’s great year played him off the Wild books

85 points last season. Generally the rule of thumb is $1M for every 10 points, and he falls within that range.
He has 179 points in 196 games over the last three seasons which is 32nd in the NHL, so not just a 1 year wonder either. His 0.91 PPG isn't that far off from Tkachuk at 1.00 PPG over the last three years...and we think Tkachuk won't get below $10M.
He's only 25 too, so depending on the term on it that's probably a good deal longer term.
