That's true of every team participating in an outdoor game, no?

Blasty >> RR imo, but both look great. We're in the top 3 best jersey sets in sports.

Most of the time — sometimes, teams just appropriate jerseys they already wear (Oilers in 2016) or go back to retro designs they've worn in the past (Flames in 2019). Believe Calgary is coming up with something entirely new this time around, albeit likely with historical references and touches.

History of pro or semi pro hockey in Calgary:
Tigers - Jersey used in HC 2011
Stampeders - Jersey not used. Various leagues from 1938 to 1961, won Allan Cup in 1946.
Broncos - Never played in WHA, not sure they ever had a jersey.
Centennials and Cowboys - Jersey used by Hitmen in Corral Series.
Wranglers: Used currently
So, my money is on the Stampeders, one name that hasn’t been used, who won something, ties in with CESC, and a Stampeders jersey recolored or modified, like the original HC one was relating to the Tigers.
And, why not go with the Edmonton Flyers, who won Allan Cup two years later in 1948 (2023 is 75 years since winning, ties in well). Could stick with green and mustard and have current CFL football team colours for both teams, or do a recolor to current blue and pylon orange.

They really jump out in a cool way on TV, where Blasty is alright, but looks any other black jersey ensemble in the league. Funny thing is in terms of fans wearing them, blasty looks way better.

The surprising thing is they're only using them for four games, we literally have one left. Would be nice to have a post-Christmas date since many will get these as gifts.

I like the black better but it’s clear Blasty is gaining momentum!

This years reverse retro actually looks way better than Blasty with the full kit. I didn't like the jersey itself when it was released but something about the full kit is just better live and on TV than the Blasty full kit. The red shoulders are a huge part of that for sure.

I've read that the next Flames HC jersey will be primarily an off-white with red shoulders. That certainly suggests a neo-retro hockey Stampeders theme.

I think the white Cs are one of the best parts of the blasts jersey. But I agree, as a whole kit the reverse retro’s do look better.

It's the red shoulders and additional red in the socks.
Remove the dumb pedestal stripes and it's far superior to Blasty as an overall look. Put Blasty on the shoulders of that and that should be the alternate.

Disagree, I thought of a mash up of the two to make one good jersey and no, red shoulders on the blasty jersey would just look bad. The blasty jersey works for what it is, but if you're adding red to that one it needs to be on the bottom like the original.

I would love this. The rumours of "red shoulders, off white base" seem to support this. Simply the reverse (away version?) of the picture above.
I would suggest the 1952 Edmonton Mercurys would be a better choice for the Oilers. Hopefully the powers that be go with as true as possible replications (including crests) as opposed to "recoloured insprirations" with Flames & Oilers logos.

Had a thought with the reverse retros I’m hoping one of the talented Photoshoppers can handle….
Take the current reverse retros and leave everything as is except for the stripe going acros the bottom. Take the format of the striping and make it a V at the bottom like the ‘04 jerseys.
Could make for an interesting mashup

Just chiming in to say that this looks incredible. I'd love to see a full mockup with some flowing fabric - I expect that it would look even better. Red is the Flames primary color - so to get away from that a bit while still having those red accents and pumping up the yellow/white usage makes it really pop. Also love how the striping pattern also matches the logo striping. Very well done.

The NHL went reverse retro for the skills competition last night. The Flames wore them exactly four times this season, the last being almost two months ago, and that's it, the 2022-2023 reverse retro won't be worn again this season.
The Flames really handled this poorly, introducing this and returning Blasty as a 3rd in the same season was terrible.
