Imagine if they sat down funny and broke that thing.

But the signals never stopped....

Most awkward cheating reveal ever?

Some crazy new updates regarding the poker scandal.

The woman accused of cheating has admitted she was staked into the game by RIP (The guy in the cowboy hat) another player in the game (this wasn't knowledge to anyone prior to the controversial hand) and they have timestamped parts of the broadcast where it looks like they were communicating to each other using hand signals and body language.

Still nothing absolutely definitive but still really crazy to see.

Update on the fishing scandal

The boat and truck which one of two cheaters owned have been confiscated by local authorities. The boat, which was used in the Lake Erie tournament, is likely to be used as evidence as authorities are continuing to investigate. No charges have been laid yet

Update on the chess scandal: Niemann has filed a $100m lawsuit against Magnus Carlsen (among others) for the accusations. The lawyers for him say “this is not a joke”, and I’m not sure how that makes this look. At any rate, it’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds.

I think if you look at Magnus’s statements he ends up clean.

Essentially his accusation was that Magnus cheated more than he publicly declared. Which he had as admitted to Chess.com.

Magnus I agree is fine unless collusion is discovered. (Aka if it’s tied to the sale of his chess site to chess.com) Hikaru has done his best to basically end Hans career so I’m a bit more ambivalent there.

I expect chess.com could have some significant exposure here too given their public statements. This might be one you settle rather than litigate (assuming Niemann is willing to come to the table with a reasonable offer—something quite a bit less than $100 million…)

I’ve been watching various coverage on it. Well tbh I unsubscribed from Hikaru months ago since I find him toxic as hell. But I do watch Gotham and Agadmator and Finegold. Agadmator has stayed away from it more than others, Gotham I think has been pretty balanced but I like Bens anti establishment takes here. Kind of a refreshing honesty to it.

I still haven't seen anything to prove that she was cheating in that hand.
Staking people is very common in poker, I don't think you should be at the same table but it's not against the rules. Also, people who know each other soft play each other and communicate all the time. If they were accused of colluding with each other I'd believe it no problem but that has nothing to do with the hand in question.

Also, the posters over at 2+2 are mostly idiots.

The collusion side is more interesting as who knows how that went.

I think Chess.com backed up everything they said with the report and had written very carefully around the in person cheating saying we can’t prove it but this evidence is suspicious. So I’d expect the defamation stuff to be lost.

Hikaru is likely the only person in that lawsuit who is squirming, and rightfully so, without any hard evidence he pushed very hard that Hans was a cheater, which no doubt, has had a very negative effect on Hans' career. If anything Hikaru should have to give Hans a part of the millions dollars he made milking this drama.

Chess.com will only be in hot water because they've allegedly let other players who have been caught cheating play in the global chess championship.

Magnus is likely a spite check, although if there was collusion with chess.com then its gonna get messy.

At the end of the day I expect all three know by now that before we even think about the merits, it will be very expensive to defend this lawsuit, and no one will look good afterward. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a quiet settlement at some point.

Also; thanked for the use of “spite check.”
