Nothing learned, other than Rome has never been to the Stampede.

It was nothing. About 3 minutes, Rome didn't know anything, just asked him generic stuff. What' a Canadian market like? Must have been a whirlwind stepping down in Carolina/hired by Calgary/coaching Canada?

Asked him what's the Stampede like. Bill says it's great, asks Rome if he's ever been, Rome says "no, that's why I'm asking you".

Rome was clearly doing it because he needs hockey content (even starting with "we do this because we have Canadian affiliates), Peters gave nothing more than he does during post game interviews, so you can imagine how that went.

Kind of weird that Rome would bother with an interview like that. There's nothing there for a Flames fan and nothing there for a casual viewer. Nobody comes away with anything.

Pretty underwhelming interview.

Rome sure isn't popular here (not a fan either).

Surprised the Fan continues to carry him.

Maybe Kirsch should get off his wallet and hire another morning guy for a couple hours. Even Edmonton has that lowdown guy between 10 and noon.

I can barely stand Rome, but I would rather listen and be angry at him than be put asleep while behind the wheel listening to Kirsch.

If he does say so himself. Remember Richards' imitation? "What A Great Interview".

Did Bill Peters really ask Jim Rome, "have you been to the Stampede yet?"

Rome asked Peters what he thought of the Stampede
Peters asked if Rome had ever been
Rome said no

It was that riveting.

I find Rome does 90% of the talking during his "interviews".
I think Rome tries to do at least one interview a year which appeals to each of his affiliates.

Here's a positive spin. (Conspiracy Theory).

Even casual hockey fans in the US pay more attention to hockey in the Playoffs. Fair to say the deeper teams go the more people pay attention to them.

So someone smart in Rome's world must have thought the Flames are a threat to go very deep this year and therefore introduce the team / coach to his hockey-neutral audience now so they have some familiarity come April / May. (/June!).

I think a similar argument was made when NBC showed a Toronto / Winnipeg game earlier this season. It is an attempt to introduce their fans to a team that will become more relevant in the months to come!

Hope this doesn't derail the flames season like the GG rome appearance did last year...

That was however very circumstantial and can't entirely be to blame for the way the flames finished the year.

I'm actually surprised Rome still has a show after GG's appearance last year. Things could have been a lot worse.
