Last night's win moves the red snake to 4.878 points above the black line. That is higher than any point the orange or purple snake got to. The red snake now sits 4 points above the orange snake and six points above the purple snake. The red snake has now finished above the black line for 10 consecutive games, and is guaranteed at least 4 more games.
A record of 28-24-0 (0.538 point percentage) in the remaining 52 games would give the red snake 96 points. It is currently on pace for 109 points.

I wondered how the current red snake would compare to the snake from 30 years ago, so I charted it. The red snake is 4.878 points above the black line, but is 6 points below the purple snake.

So the cup-winning team from 30 years ago was at a very similar place at this point in the season to where Tampa Bay is now, but without any loser points.
Given the parity in the greater parity in league now, I'm not sure which one I think is more impressive to this point.

It was shown somewhere that compared to league parity etc the relative dominance of that 89 team was one of the highest ever- of course the habs weren’t far behind them but those 2 were the class of the league

The Flames had 117 points and the Habs had 115. Washington finished 3rd overall with 92 points.
Compare that with last season where Nashville won the President's Trophy with 117 points. Dallas had 92 points and missed the playoffs, finishing 19th overall.

With a 1-1-0 record in the last two games the red snake is 4.537 points above the black line, 6 points above the orange snakes and 7 points above the purple snake. The current gap above the black line is greater than any point the orange snake was above the black line in 2014-15. The red snake has finished 12 straight games above the black line and is guaranteed at least 3 more.
A record of 27-23-0 (0.540 point percentage) in the remaining 50 games would give the red snake 96 points. It is currently on pace for 108 points.

The red snake continues to be the only Western Canadian snake that is above the black line. It sits 4.537 points above it, while the blue snake is 0.293 points below the black line and the green snake is 8.634 points below the black line. The extra crispy green snake dropped below the bottom border starting with the conclusion of game #30, but fought its way back above. This has shocked virtually all snake handlers in the western world.
A recent poll of North Americans found that everybody prefers snakes to frogs. Surprisingly, spiders also were favored above frogs, and the least liked animal was in fact a mosquito.

This is the 13th game in a row the red snake has finished above the black line and it is guaranteed at minimum of 4 more games. The orange snake had a run of 18 straight games from the conclusion of 13 through the end of 30.
