I (actually my wife-to-be) have a unique ask, and maybe the fine folks here at CP can help.

We are having our wedding reception at the restaurant in Bowness Park in August, and my wife-to-be has the idea of having a boat ride on the lagoon there for our entrance.

What she wants is sort of a Vegas Venetian boat ride type of thing where there is a canoe with a rower who takes us from one side of the lagoon to the dock area by the restaurant. We tried asking the boat rentals there for help but there are quite a lot of rules and restrictions set by them, so basically a no go.

So we are trying to see if anyone here who has a canoe and can be there at Bowness Park to help us out for maybe 15 min. It will be on a Saturday in August around 6pm.

better to get a drift boat if possible

What are the rules and restrictions? The boathouse there is pretty cheap.

Yes their prices are good, but if we are going to rent from then we must board and unboard the boat at their lives dock, which is not what we wanted. Also by renting their boat we must wear their lifejackets. We will be wearing wedding clothing and we DO NOT want to put a life jacket on top of it if there is a way.

Actually the rental place hinted that if we are not renting from them and get our own boats no one can enforce any rules technically. Thus I am writing this post looking for help.

What day in August? I grew up in canoes and this is risky but as long as you have a decent sense of canoes yourselves not impossible. I don’t have a canoe in Alberta but if you rented one from the sports place just across the Bow from the park, and I am in town, I could row for ya.
