Sled Island @sledisland Curator Danny Vacon making a short speech before our official announcement. "since SI began we are not losing our artists to larger markets"
Sled Island @sledisland Lindsay Shedden is up speaking! "the energy that sled island brings to Calgary has really put it on the map. Calgary has so much talent"
Sucks that I won't be able to attend this year (similar to last year). But I am impressed that it's survived and still going strong. I remember in 2008 or so there were rumours that it wasn't making enough money to survive and that it might be cancelled.
But now it looks like things are going strong and we really have something special in Calgary and a music event to be proud of. (And I'm also glad it received 2012 Calgary Grant funding)
1. Russian Circles - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Russia...08054429214739 Russian Circles is a three piece instrumental rock/metal band from Chicago. Russian Circles play instrumental, sprawling music which runs the gamut of heavy discordant metal, to soft delicate passages. They are also known for their energetic live shows
2. Trust - http://music.cbc.ca/#/artists/Trust Toronto based electro-lovelies TRUST. Trust is Robert Alfons and Maya Postepski (Austra). Formed in 2009, the Toronto-based duo released its first singles, "Candy Walls" and "Bulbform" in 2011 before signing with Arts & Crafts for the 2012 release of their forthcoming debut full length, TRST.

Kind of disappointed Japandroids/Purity Ring/Born Gold aren't on the lineup. Also disappointed that Grimes isn't playing anymore. Oh well, plenty of new bands to discover!

Yeah I'm still holding out hope for a Japandroids Canadian tour, but the new album comes out in June and right now their only booked up till the first week in July, so summer tour maybe?
