My studded front tire is garbage in this loose snow. I got a work out just trying to keep the handlebars straight.
Had to stop a few times and think to myself what was I doing. Had to push a few times, the snow is quite deep in places and it's easy to get bogged down.
There has been some plowing done, but it's just snowing too much to make a dent really.
Silver lining for the North wind today, it kind of blew some of the paths clear a bit.
Once I was off the pathway and on roads in the NE it's super sketchy. There is a bit of a detour I can take to a pathway to the south, which I think I need to start taking. I'm concerned about losing control on the roads and getting squished by a truck.

My arms are trashed from working so hard to keep the bike steady today. Harder on streets than the barely used pathways.

Ride home was way easier than the way to work. I suspect that might be the opposite for you hab. A lot of the pathways are cleared so that makes such a big difference.

Mostly plowed, some were not. Massive headwind. So. Damn. Tired.

Bleh - the ride home had a lot of crud/snirt on the roads. Rode on sidewalks where I could and went for fresh areas of powder. I probably should have let some air out of the tires for better float but I was too damn lazy to
Lower the saddle height folks, be prepared to bail at any time. And give up on the clipless...

I gotta hand it to those of yo7 that commute during the winter. I went for a spin on my fattie and even at 4.30 it was work pedalling around the paths in the hood as lots of them were unplowed.
It was certainly easier with the wind at my back.

First bus ride since March today. Throat is sore, a dry cough and not feeling terrific. Hope to be back on the bike in a few days.

Ah that's too bad, conditions were quite good out there this morning. All of my route was scraped, still bumpy in some spots where it has been packed down. No crazy north wind either!

Some of the side streets by the Calgary Sun Building are not plowed yet, so it's a bit of a bumpy mess there, but everywhere else was pretty good this morning. Cut my Friday commute time in half, haha.

I'm still feeling a bit sick, so decided on one more day at home. Tomorrow though! The bike is ready, bar mitts on, studded tires, gave the brakes a once over, replaced a shifter cable, waxed the chain...I think that should do it!

Yeah I was slip and sliding in front of the Sun building on 11th street this morning. Much better on 12th.

Really looking forward to when the path around the zoo is reopened. The detours needed to take on the bike in the winter time are not that great.

Ya, I was a little surprised this morning when I saw the north end of the Peace bridge path was all closed. Like, why are you trying to do whatever it is you are doing now? It's freakin' winter! What are they doing there, anyway? The detour is sucky. I hope this is a brief one.
Also, first frost bike of the season! The last time I rode to work I was in shorts, so this took a little adjustment. I forgot how much more effort it takes!

The owner of The Cyclepath North/South purchased The Bike Shop and they rebranded their stores as The Bike Shop North/South.
Better name than Psychopath, which is what I said in my head.

Any way of doing disc brakes to a frame and fork that don’t have the spots for them? I like my old Rocky Mountain, but it isn’t set up for disc brakes.

There are adapters you can buy for mounting disc brakes to a non-disc frame.

In my opinion, it ends up looking a bit cluttered and I'm not sure I'd trust everything not to move around over time. But they wouldn't sell them if it wasn't safe.

I had no idea those existed. I put a new fork on in the spring and was finally able to get a front disc. I'd love to get a rear one so I stop wearing through my rims! I too love my old Rocky.
