Plus then you can do the cideries and as I recall there is brewery and one or two distilleries. Not to mention Salt Spring Island cheese. Some good food in Ganges harbour and she would love the Saturday market.

It's like a 2 minute drive from Penticton (no joke). I'm guessing most stay in Penticton but there are places to stay in and around Naramata as well, some B&Bs and rentals.
We're in Penticton right now and went to a few tastings a few days ago on the bench, and has already been mentioned there are quite a few requiring reservations. We just drove ourselves around until we found some where we could walk right in.......Therapy, Lang and Serendipity were 3 of the ones we hit. Serendipity said they had a reservation coming in soon but fit us in anyways. I'll need to get a map out one day and figure out which ones we've been to over the years but we've definitely been to a majority by now, some a few times over.
Between Kelowna/Naramata/Oliver/Osoyoos there are so many options you can't go wrong.

Don't do the island.
When you drink wine, what do you drink?
There are very few bad answers for BC wineries. More or less just start roaming around, but if you have specific tastes I can probably direct you.

What sort of wine does your wife enjoy the most?
Bigger reds come from the hotter southern region towards Osoyoos. Tart, light and white are produced in around Kelowna. Naramata is that sweet middle ground, you cannot go there and not fall in love.
I could probably write a 10 page essay on Naramata and area if you'd like.

I'm not sure what their rules are like right now, but I'd recommend the Okanagan Falls block of wineries as an alternative to the more heavily trafficked Naramata Bench.
Wild Goose has very good white wines (and a restaurant I've never tried). Noble Ridge and Stag's Hollow each have a couple of very strong wines. Blue Mountain is known for their Pinot Noir and the winery (and short drive to it) are beautiful. Liquidity does higher end wines and is another very beautiful spot next to Blue Mountain. See Ya Later has some good wines for the dry wine lover.
Having toured the Naramata bench for years, I generally prefer the Okanagan Falls experience now. Wine is just as good, it's not as overrun (though I don't know if that's a problem with Covid), and the scenery is pretty close to being as beautiful.
Having said all that, I don't think there's much in the way of decent accommodation options in OK Falls, so you would end up staying in Penticton anyway. From there, you might as well do successive days in OK Falls, Naramata, Summerland, and a full day trip down to Oliver and Osoyoos (depending on how much time you have, of course).
Damn... Stupid Covid has kept me out of the Okanagan for months, and now writing about it makes me really miss it...
Edit: Re-read the OP and realized JBR was also looking to do some hiking. That's available in the Penticton area (Skaha Bluffs for example) but it's hot as balls this time of year and dry too, so a tough place to hike. Much better to bring/rent mountain bikes and ride the KVR trail over Naramata or from Penticton to Summerland and back if you pick that area.
Thinking about it, wine and hiking locales tend to be sort of mutually exclusive.

This is a really good call too.
Cannery brewing is an awesome hangout with some really nice beer.
Bad Tattoo's beer is really good as well, and their pizza is pricey but excellent.
Slackwater has hopefully gotten better since I went there (they were really new then).
Old Order distillery is a super cool little spot too, with some nice mixed drinks and a chill vibe, basically right next to Slackwater.
Bonus: you can drink your beer/wine/gin on Penticton's main beach.

Small sample size, I know, but nice to see people not acting like idiots with the new law.

That’s on Okanagan Lake. I’d say Skaha Beach is the most popular beach.

I think they’re pretty close but Skaha is more popular with the younger crowd. Still, there are some younger people on Okanagan (I’m not a fossil either) and people have been good about it what I’ve seen so far.

We got a rental in OK falls for the first weekend. Everything was pretty booked up for end of July. Was forced to change plans with the border being closed as we were going to drive through Montana to get to Osoyoos this trip.

The big ones are ok, if you haven't seen them. I prefer the smaller ones. Last year we looked on kijiji and there is a service you can pay $40/hr and have a guy take you in your vehicle to any area you want at your pace. Way better than a bus full of strangers. All you need is one moron to ruin your experience.
I have seen a lot of the wineries in that area but my favourite area is Lake Country near Winfield. Grey Monk and many others, IMO, are way better than Mission Hill. Way less pompous. I always did like Quails Gate though.

My buddy Reg just started up a wine tour company called Decanted Tours, it’s worth checking out https://www.decantedtours.com/. Reg is a great guy, hilarious and knows the are like the back of his hand. You’ll have a great experience. Whatever you end up choosing I hope you have a great time!
