Chelios says he did during the podcast. This would of course increase his legend by tenfold.

I did a 30 second google search for evidence and came up with nothing. Sounds like the assistant coach asked him to kill a penalty in the last minute of the game and Chelios said hell no.

Well to learn that goof is not the innocent, playful, endearing term I once thought it to be is disappointing. I refer to people I like as goofs regularly.

I guess in the podcast he said he drank to many beers? So he wasn’t able to do it?

I had no idea of this until today. Always thought goof was a pretty gentle insult.

Yeah, he said his boys were passing him beers through the glass.

I use the term that way too.

I guess words have different meaning depending on the tribe you're with. I never had heard of the word, fata, until I joined CP.

I guess I am old fashioned but this man / woman thing really gets my dander up.

Whenever a young lady holds the door for me, I compliment her by saying, "Thank you...you're a gentleman". I never cease to get a smile out of her. Of course, I can do that with my grey hair.

Maybe you young people would prefer I say, "Thank you...You're a chivalrous, courteous, and honorable person"

I just looked it up. The term for referring to a woman as a gentleman equivalent should be "Thank you...you're a Lady". I guess you could also substitute 'Gentlewoman" for "Gentleman"

You learn something every day.

That was the implication.

If you actually look up the game sheet for that Winter Classic, he actually played 5 shifts, for a total TOI of 1:57. So, not exactly what he said, but pretty close.

It is quite frustrating that the only video footage floating around of the Leino punch incident is the one that has been looped. It's impossible to tell from it how much of what Laviolette claims is plausible. I'm not at all suggesting that he is lying—I am rather bemoaning the fact that it is SO easy to manufacture a story from manipulated photo or video evidence these days. Just not at all helpful.

Laviolette has bad aim. I've rarely missed my hand when punching into it.

I think what he is saying is that he contacted the helmet on his way to striking his hand. Again, because the stupid video is on 4-second a loop, it's impossible to see anything in context.

Yeah that video (even the loop) clearly looked like an accident.

He’s not even looking an Leino at all or talking to him.

On the other hand, if I'm a player listening and I see him accidentally hit the helmet, the point is lost because I'm LOLing inside.

Abuse and Mistreatment of Athletes at US Universities: Legal Implications for Institutional Duty-to-Protect

Texas Review of Entertainment & Sports Law (forthcoming), Spring/Fall 2020

https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....act_id=3497110

Quote:
The recent spate of high-profile cases detailing abuse, mistreatment, and catastrophic injuries, suffered by college athletes have raised concerns regarding their well-being and the quality of care they receive. Post-hoc investigations have often followed in such cases, in an attempt to determine the cause and what preventive actions could have been taken. With disturbing regularity, such investigations have uncovered institutional dereliction of duty to protect and failure to prevent continued misconduct by those with the ability and opportunity to do so. This study presents a documentary investigation into issues college athletes raised during their exit interviews at one university in the United States. This study details the communication chain from athlete to administration and whether athlete concerns received attention commensurate with the gravity of the issues raised. Findings presented here indicate that administrative officials appeared less concerned with athlete well-being than with avoiding attracting attention to potential institutional malfeasance. The congruity of these results with evidence from the broader college athlete population as well as legal implication for institutional duty of care are discussed.
