Great thread.
I miss the era of TV openings where they took the time to explain everything about the show - who the characters were, what the main plot is - in an incredible amount of detail.

The intro itself is somewhat forgettable, but I always loved the Matlock theme song. Big booming brass section and that funky clarinet.
