If I recall, he mentioned a month or two ago he was doing something with the Olympic bid? Perhaps that's the next venture for him.

And thanks to the Jays doing the Titanic, one can only hope they start selling some NHL games back to TSN so we no longer get 3rd rate production values.

Well they sure aren't picking from the cream of the crop.

I will always be thankful for him doing the Overtime in the early 2000's- he was a big part of my 2004 cup run experience. There wasn't a forum like that at that time, and I will always be a fan of his for doing it.

Towards the end of him hosting and doing Overtime he was getting so testy and burned out it became frustrating, but not everyone can be Steinberg.

Good luck with the future, Robby!

This is not a good day. Rob was one of 4 people on the station who actually understand how to ask & answer questions with insight. I think Pat & Will do their best & work hard, but completely lack insight. Hopefully Pinder moves to the afternoon, as he at least has the capability & talent to create a narrative worth listening to (in agreement or disagreement).

Rob could at least for an opinion worthy of debate & back it up with substance. I find little of this with Will Pat or anyone else they roll out in the afternoon.

Having said that I am also reserved to the fact they will be here for a long time. They’re loyal dudes who do the grunt work. But real talent moves on & they will be in Calgary for a long time.

Looks like I’m listening to more podcast in the afternoon.

I was wondering exactly the same thing, especially with thefan promos “only all sports station in Calgary”.

I was listening to the show right up to about 525 so this is a surprise!

I highly doubt it. According to the latest quarterly overall ratings, the FAN is the 16th station in an 18-station market. Sports radio in a market of this size is, at best, a barely profitable niche. There certainly isn't room for two stations in that niche, and unlike Rogers, Bell Media has shown a distinctly limited appetite for throwing money away.

Well it won't involve Kerr, his goodbye message on twitter says he is stepping away from broadcasting.

i spent a lot of afternoons driving home from work with rob on the radio, and it will be strange to be without him (again). gonna miss his "always a busy day in local sports talk radio" attitude

good luck!

Wish all the best to Kerr, but yikes, this probably means more Will Nault which I'm not jazzed about.

Rob Kerr was the best sports radio personality in Calgary - maybe in Canada. Bare none. He knew what he was talking about. I missed it when he went into play by play and I am going to definitely miss him now.

Good luck!

While I didn't love him in the PBP role, I thought he was a tremendous radio talk show host. I really enjoyed Kerr over the years. Loved his segments with Tommy Wheeldon as well as soccer rarely gets coverage in this city.

I wish him all the best in his new endeavor. It wasn’t always pretty (the PBP) but I thought he was a pretty solid radio guy and it’s a big loss for 960.

Great interviewer, good insights, and a huge champion of amateur sport in Calgary. I'll really miss him.

Best wishes in your next venture, Rob!
