Glad I threw $100 bucks at this, even if I didn't get in on the KS campaign. Looks amazing.

So is it a buy spaceships with real money type game? Pay to win?

I looked around the website a little bit and couldn't figure it out...or is it just a small incentive to buy now for a temporary starting advantage?

Its amazing that Robert's seems to be revisiting Wing Commander in his design work.

That ship had a lot of similarities to the Scimitar from the first wing commander.

I'm really psyched that they have over $12.5 million to use to develop this game (and only increasing). This is the type of game I absolutely love. Freelancer is one of my favourite games ever.

It is an incentive to buy now, AFAIK.

The main incentive for early funders is LTI, Life Time Insurance for your ship. When your ship is destroyed you'll get the hull replaced for free. I think there's a couple of days left to still take advantage of that.

I still want to back this game... not sure why I haven't. Perhaps I'll buy the bounty hunter pack. That 300i looks really nice.

It tells me that as an original backer I have until November 13, 2013 to get ships with LTI.

Still spending $65-$100 for a 300i class or $100-$200+ now for a ship when I don't even know what kind of play style I'll like or how the ship will be in context of the game seems silly.

Ya I'm sticking with my $60 Bounty Hunter pledge. I get that 300i class ship shown in the video and I think for a starter ship that has lifetime insurance that's pretty damn good

Every ship will be available by playing the game, all buying them now does is give you immediate access to them and removes the penalty to get them fixed

Yeah I've got the basic $35 pledge, I guess there was a point where I could have upgraded for just the difference but I missed it (haven't been paying attention much to the game).

I love the nods to the old Wing Commander and Roberts Universes like the Hornet and Constellation and Freelancer.

I forgot about this back in the day and didn't pledge anything. Is there anything we can still jump aboard with?

The end of the RSI Prime launch grace period is here!

Today, Saturday, July 6th at midnight PDT, the limited edition ships will again be retired. If you’re interested in purchasing an Aurora LX, ORIGIN 350r, M50, Starfarer, Caterpillar, Gladiator or Retaliator during this promotion, do it now! If you have friends who are interested in pledging for Star Citizen, please let them know that this is the last chance to become a Veteran Backer and enjoy the benefit of lifetime hull insurance.

Everything that you ever wanted to know about the Star Citizen universe (so far):

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/c...-Part-Thirteen

That links to the final installment of their Writers Guide and has links to the other chapters. Basically they created a wiki to give fan fiction writers something to base their stories on. Timeline from our near future to 900 years later (when the game takes place), governments, military, corporations, alien cultures, everything they've figured out so far is listed there and it's a very interesting read. I'm really liking how they're modeling the human civilization on the later states of the Roman Empire, opens up a lot of possibilities with a still powerful but struggling central leadership

This is shaping up to be one of the biggest sci-fi universes ever seen in a video game. The only series I've seen with as much attention to detail as Star Citizen is Mass Effect, and they've still got 2 years to go

Okay I totally caved.

I'm now the owner of a Hornet and a Starfarer and I've joined the Convoy guild of intergalactic truckers for a still-vapourware game two years away
