They like pairs so hoping tkatchuk is away from backlund

Money and gaudreau
Tkatchuk and lindholm
Backlund and Bennet
Shore and Frolik

Rest plug n play where u got a hot line going or two. So some skill on the wings will help us in a big way

But I’d have more confidence in Tkachuk helping out Jankowski and Bennett getting in their groove than Lindholm would. Would prefer having Lindholm with Gaudreau and Monahan so that he can gain some confidence on this team

JVR has been noted as pretty much a powerplays specialist. Would be decent but his UFA price tag is gonna sting I think.

Especially if he has any 3 point nights.

Tkachuk on the right side and Lindholm in the middle?

I like it. I think Lindholm could be as good as Backlund up the middle with the added bonus of being a 55% face off guy. Possibly even better than Backlund, which would be massive for this organization going forward IMO.

Yeah I like that thinking also. I do think its important to try and get the offensive confidence of our young forwards up. So whatever lines help get Bennett, Janko and Lindholm going is best for us early on

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Bennett-Jankowski-Tkachuk
Frolik-Backlund-Foo
????-Shore-Lazar

That might be the best set up to start the season barring any other acquisitions. Shelter the 2nd line and give them a lot of offensive zone starts. Let the Monahan and Backlund lines do the heaviest lifting.

Didn't he just say 24 hours ago that Lindholm will play on the top line most likely?

Gaudreau-Monahan-???
Bennett-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Backlund-Frolik
Lazar-Jankowski-Foo

Too many bodies and at some point, you need to ship some out: Brouwer, Hathaway, Shore, Jankowski on the fourth line...

And that's how fast things can change in the off season. Who knows. Peter's may not be rigid like GG so things ll change on a game to game basis

I believe it was good old GG that liked pairs.

Funny that Treliving is usually pretty tight lipped and then says this a day after the big trade.

They must feel fairly confident in making a significant UFA signing. Hopefully they don't overpay.

Well, I think they have someone but nothing can be announced until saturday. Pretty quick transition from yesterday. Holy smokes.

Lots of coaches like pairs now, GG was one, and so is Peters, or at least he said he likes pairs up front when he was hired IIRC.

I knew Brad wasn't done and still has a few moves/tricks up his sleeve. His job and reputation is on the line. I believe in the Tre!

I am sure it will leak out way before then. If they are close with a guy, we will probably know by tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest.

I am hoping it is JVR or Perron

Peters throws things in a blender quite often though. Lines are set if we are winning but if its half way through the second and we are down two expect the bench to shorten and lines juggled.

Look at how efficient Versteeg was. Him getting hurt really had an effect IMO.
Versteeg had a total of 8 points last season(24 games played). Those might be his numbers from 2 seasons ago.

I think brass is just brainstorming at this point, and a lot will be contingent on how the opening night line-up shapes up. In the meantime, they're tasking certain players to experiment with some different training regimens.

Or it could be the numbers from the last 2 years...like it says in the post.
