Think posters should also put down what it takes to obtain there pick of players. I see jvr and he will not come cheap as a ufa. I also see Oreilly in trade but again that's not going to be cheap.

Perron or JVR if they go UFA. Hoffman or Hayes if by trade.

I think they end up being a finalist in the Tavares sweepstakes rumours because the Flames have a knack for making some splash around big fish. But of course will finish a runner up there, likely.
But I don't think Treliving wastes efforts on a band aid option this time, finally learns, and grabs someone like Hoffman, right as Oiler fans are chirping them for missing our on JT. Big defense piece and a young forward going the other way, helping to fill the void of karlsson going elsewhere. Enter Valimaki to help fill the void on the Flames end in October.
If the Flames look at the biggest need the same way I do and see greater value in a center upgrade, I hope for ROR, who once upon a time did sign a (albeit big blunder) contract with the Flames before.

You're right, thought Hoffman played either wing, but it appears not...
Hoffman or JVR maybe

With the free agents, I'd say Stastny at 3 years or less because the others are improbable (Tavares), not good enough (Vanek and Bozak) and likely to be too expensive (JVR, Neal (SCF), Perron (SCF)).
With the trades, it really depends on who we're trading. In my opinion, the order of the value of our assets in order including Hamilton > Giordano > Brodie + forward (ex: Bennett) > Brodie > defensive prospect + forward (ex: Bennett). Note: I wouldn't trade Brodie plus a defensive prospect because that would be too detrimental to the defense.
I think they'll trade Brodie for Hoffman and ask Hoffman to play his offside.
This will give us:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Hoffman
Tkachuk - Stastny - Ferland
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Jankowski - Shore - RW
Also, I didn't include Stone in the assets for trade because I don't think he's good enough, even if packaged with a forward (ex: Bennett), to get us a top 6 winger. However, I think he'll be traded for a 2018 2nd rounder or a 2018 3rd rounder plus a mid-level prospect.

It was obviously a dig at Eberle but there was nothing racist about it, I have a variety of friends from different nationalities and believe all people are equal. It was a fly by comment looking for SJW thanks but perhaps Nik should educate himself before doing that because dog meat is in fact a part of Chinese cuisine.

So was it an obvious shot at Eberle or a demonstration of your intense cultural understanding of China?
Your latter statement suggest you made a "chinese food is dog" joke.
It's not the 80's anymore, humour has moved on.

Lol, just admit you tried to do a drive by comment and failed miserably. You know, the kind of crap we are trying to get rid of on these boards? Keep digging up....

I think we should try to get rid of old fashioned racist jokes being thought of as funny or ok first. You know what you did, you can pretend, but you're embarrassed a bit, and desperately trying to turn it around on someone else, it's ok.
It's not the end of the world, you made an off colour joke.

Humour may have moved on, that’s a matter of opinion. Calling someone a racist is a serious claim. A harmless joke about Chinese food containing dog meat isn’t hurtful to anyone. It’s playful ribbing, much like saying white guys can’t dance. Harmful racism has much more to do with power dynamics than it does with jokes.

Hoffman. After that, none of the above, and that includes Tavares for only the contract suggested. Tavares is an $8-9M player. Anything more than that and you’re shooting youself in the face. Tavares is not a game changer on his own. You don’t pay him as such without making a massive mistake. Flames should be looking to fill holes, not fill strengths they already have.

Are you being obtuse on purpose? What you are arguing is like me saying you are racist against Asians because in their culture they DO eat dog meat. Just stop, you got caught doing a drive by, own up to it and move on. You are seriously embarrassing yourself and clogging up the thread. Don't EVER accuse someone as serious as something like racism unless you have a strong valid reason.

Who is it hurting? Cows are sacred in India, if an Indian were to joke about westerners eating beef, would you claim to be a victim of racism?
