The Penguins took a 3-0 lead just 8 minutes into the game. It was a weird period as the Pens had only 5 shots on net while the Lightning had 16 shots. Tampa's goals came late in the 3rd period. The strange thing with the Penguins is that they have a good record when comes to playing the top teams in the league. The opposite happens when the play last place teams.

Captain Jamie Benn scored the only goal of the game in the 1st period. There were only 2 penalties all game and were also called in the first period. Ben Bishop made 30 saves for the SHUTOUT. The Stars win puts them in 7th place of the western conf., 2 points up on the Avs and Canucks.
