Hitch - watched it one valentines day, damn you will smith
Inception - had no idea what it was going into it
300 - same idea as inception
Pirates of the Caribbean - not big into pirates, left satisfied with Kiera Knightly
The Hunger Games - wife loved the books, waited in line for it with her, very pleasantly supprised
Oh, and the notebook still sucks

Reason: forgot the ending piece
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Even sitting in the theatre during the movie I wanted to leave, but about two days later It kind of started to grow on me. I'm never going to watch it again, but I'm glad I saw it.
Also Zero Dark Thirty was surprisingly really good.
I remember a friend and I went to the theatres to watch Liar Liar, but when we got there, it was sold out. So after much debate we decided to watch some random movie we'd barely heard of called Austin Powers.
Never laughed so hard in a theatre since. And so quotable back then.
And for the record, V for Vendetta is definitely one of my favourite movies.
Aside from LXG all of Alan Moore's movies are "pretty good" (even Constantine). Obviously none of them would ever live up to the actual comics/graphic novels, but for the most part they were admirable works. LXG on the other hand is the definition of hot garbage.
I would like to see a Miracle Man movie/mini-series one of these days. I wish Moore himself would get involved in one of these, but that's never (ever) going to happen. Good on him for sticking to his guns though.
The Town. The movie we wanted to see was sold out, or we were late, or something, so we randomly picked The Town. Loved it!
Expendables. I thought it was going to be so cheesy. It was, but fun!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Took my kids this weekend otherwise I wouldn't have seen it. Actually not too bad. Maybe I liked it because I was watching it with my kids, but I still enjoyed it.
The Matrix. I saw a quick bit of it when Neo was being interrogated and his mouth was sealed shut and that is all I saw. I thought, great, another supernatural show. Not long after I found myself having to watch it. Great show!
Dumb and Dumber. I didn't like Jim Carrey early on because everybody loved the funny guy. Dumb and Dumber is one of my top 5 funny movies.
More recently, I watched 12 Years a Slave and thought it was really good. I wasn't too interested in seeing it at the time, but it was better than I expected.
X-Men: First Class was another that I avoided but ended up liking.

While it wouldn't be in my top 5, I thought Real Steel would be an awful POS, but I ended up liking it. Nothing spectacular or anything, but in other hands it could have been terrible.
