I don't think this works for me. The number one song on my 14th birthday in the US was Stevie Wonder's I Just Called to Say I Love You (which is probably the worst song in Stevie Wonder's canon), and in Canada, it was The Warrior by Scandal. Both songs are about unrequited love, I think, so they may have pertained to my life when I was 14 but certainly do not define my life now.
Black Velvet by Alannah Myles.
Of all the songs from the late 80s and early 90s on that list this is one of the few I can still put up with today.
One hit wonder I am. I guess this explains why I've had side burns for the past 20 some years...or I was a good looking skinny young guy who becomes much larger as my life style catches up to me.

Well I feel better knowing that in Canada, it was Ordinary world and alternative music top of charts was Depche mode I feel you. Those make more sense.

I’ve just spent the past hour or so going through the Number 1 singles in Canada during my life. That triggered so many memories that had been long forgotten. Good and bad.
Ballroom Blitz was number 1 when we emigrated to Calgary and that night I had my first ever slice of pizza.
Bonnie Tyler was number 1 when we went to Flintstones Park in Kelowna.
Cars by Gary Numan was at the top, my last days at elementary school.
Every Breathe You Take reminds me of Village Square Leisure Centre.
Another One Bites the Dust reminds me of barbecues with my friends.
Our House by Madness was number 1 when I started High School. The summer before had been wonderful. It was also the summer the cable company for some reason was broadcasting MTV and ESPN for free.
Most notably it was to be my last summer in Calgary. The NEP just killed everything. People were selling their houses for a dollar or just walking away from them.
Cyndi Lauper was number 1 when we moved back to Ireland. I was heartbroken, rebelled and made life far more difficult than I needed to for my Mom.
Mickey - Toni Basil was number 1 when I turned 14.
