Missing girl in Monterey Park (NE)
Calgary Police are flying overhead and on the loud speaker.
A 6yr old girl is missing, yellow dress, black tights, aqua backpack and purple sunglasses.
Don't know how to post Tweets but the CPS just had a Tweet about it as well.

Not sure. They just did a flyover and said on the loud speaker she had been found.

She was found with an older lady who didn't speak English. The baby sitter didn't pick her up so she took her because there was no one else to take her. That's where the confusion was.

He was just distraught and fell to the ground when he realized his daughter was missing. He's ok now.

Well that babysitter kind of fails at babysitting. I hope it's a misunderstanding rather than simply a terrible babysitter.

Now that she is safe.
I have never experienced the flyover loudspeaker before.
It started around 12:30pm and was quite alarming, loud sirens from the chopper and then an announcement about a missing girl, her name and description.
Police flooded the neighbourhood and stopped and talked to people.
This went on for a good 2 hours. When CPS finally made a tweet about it is when I posted the thread.
Then the CPS did a flyover again saying they found her and thanks for the help.

a situation like this is the perfect example of why they don't have Amber Alerts right away and there are pretty strict criteria that needs to be met before an Amber Alert is called.
I used to be like "why don't they just call the Amber Alert to be safe" but I think overusing the system would do more harm than good and when a situation actually arises where a kid is actually abducted then maybe not everyone takes it as serious because they might think the kid isn't actually in danger.

You think right. It's also why there isn't a public APB put out for every missing person in Calgary. It too quickly becomes white noise that people tune out and ignore.
(For the curious, Calgary has roughly 9-10 people go missing a day...folks would tune that out pretty fast.)

I love it when you get to see a glimpse of real police work like this. You can tell that a lot of thought went into the plan and it takes a lot of coordination.
