What's even more unsurprising to me is that first-gen AI chatbot / freedumb fighter Yoho posting that particular tweet.

I guess, but that tweet was from a pretty big and legitimate news source. It seems pretty relevant to me, and the numbers aren’t great for the mayor or council.

Who cares? Look at the content of the tweet. Are you surprised Yoho, of all people, posted that? You gotta be an idiot to think otherwise.

I thought this would be your garden variety Community Appeal, but I see the CA has put together a 183 page document with some considerable research into the history of Scarboro, the CPR, and the early days of Calgary. It's actually a great read from a history perspective. I recognize some of the last names of these historical figures from working downtown and can't help but wonder if they are descendants of these founding figures.

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that the CPR and it's legacy legal agreements wield Thanos levels of power and it is one hell of a dogfight in all matters of business, including all three levels of government. I'm curious to see where this goes.

I actually don't mind some type of heritage designation for Scarboro and Mount Royal as the two neighbourhoods are an excellent example of the City Beautiful movement urban design philosophy and both have many architecturally significant heritage homes. Due to the irregular street layout and topography of these communities, they are not good candidates for intensive redevelopment anyway.
Having said that, properties along the south edge of Scarboro along 17th Ave and parcels in Mount Royal with frontage on 14th St should be re-designated to allow for townhomes and low rise multifamily with limited commercial at grade.

I have the exact same thoughts. Those communities as a whole I feel are justified in keeping it's historically low density/bougie luxury house land uses, but the properties that border the urban main streets corridors of 17th Ave and 14 St should be low-medium density builds since the roads don't compliment what they are trying to preserve.
There is plenty of other inner city communities that are ripe for redevelopment, that can serve the city's aspirations for significant growth within the inner city.

Glad they’re planning to reverse course on this. This would have been embarrassing.

I still don’t get why people voted for Chu even before the statutory rape came to light.

In the divorce settlement between Ward 3 and Ward 4, we let them have Nosehill Park, but they had to take Sean Chu too. It was a bit of a win.

Um, achshually, (pushes glasses up nose), in this case Kang would be Chu. You meant Kodos.
