Ok, I would be interested in suggestions for my general ideas:

Want to acquire:
1. A top 2 pick with goal to draft Kaapo Kakko.
2. A big 1st line capable center. (Maybe Hayes)
3. Zucker if deal is still on the table.
4. Maybe a goalie. Will re-sign Smith for one year if I can't make it work.
5. A bigger 4th liner who can put up 15-20 points. Reeves like.

Want to divest:
1. Neal
2. Frolik
3. Monahan
4. Stone
5. Brodie

Willing to trade to get what I want:
1. First rounder this year or next or other picks. (To help get the high pick)
2. Giordano
3. Kilington
4. Mangipane
5. Parsons

Do not want to include:
1. Gaudreau
2. Tkachuk
2. Lindholm
3. Bennett
4. Backlund
5. Valamaki
6. Hanafin
7. Anderson
8. Hamonic

Can some combination of the assets listed provide enough value to get the pick I would want?

I don’t know if the Flames make a blockbuster this summer. I do think we will see Brodie moved almost certainly and guys like Frolik, Jankowski, Stone shopped. A new goalie is likely but I would be surprised if it wasn’t a tandem type to play with Rittich. The Flames need some flexibility, size/grit, and could add some prospect depth.

Trading an unprotected 1st then missing the playoffs by 11pts warranted the franchise alerting blockbuster that occurred with the Canes. Losing in the first round won’t cause a similar reaction even though that is what some fans want.

I'm just copying the above template.

Want to acquire:
1. A dynamic centre. Doesn't necessarily need to be a huge point producer, but needs high-end speed, some intensity & tenacity, good puck carrier. Sort of a Tyler Johnson (but preferably bigger).
2. Defence prospects, esp. RH ones. Depending how the draft goes, trades may not be necessary.
3. A goalie, either an FA or acquired via trade. Smith on a 1-yr is a last resort.
4. A 2nd or 1st-line RW. Again, doesn't have to be elite, but needs to be fast and have good hands plus intensity.
5. One nasty winger, ie. a bit of an upgrade on Lomberg or Peluso.
6. A nasty D, ie. a faster Prout.
In general, speedy, tenacious forwards are a top priority.

Want to divest:
1. Neal (it's far-fetched, though)
2. Frolik
3. Stone

On the table:
1. Jankowski
2. 2019 1st, but only if we're getting a mid-high 2nd
3. Kylington
4. Any prospect not named Valimaki. Would keep at least one of Dubé & Pettersen
5. Brodie
6. Tkachuk if, and only if, contract negotiations go very sour.

Willing to part with if need be:
1. One of Gaudreau & Monahan
2. Hanifin
3. Czarnik
4. Mangiapane
5. 3rd-round or lower picks
6. Tkachuk if his demands are much too high
7. Backlund

Untouchable or of uncertain value:
1. Giordano
2. Bennett
3. Hamonic
4. Andersson
5. Valimaki
6. 2019 1st-rounder if we're not getting a mid-high 2nd.
7. Lindholm
8. Tkachuk if negotiations look promising

Obviously, most of these guys will likely stay. Something like two or three trades of note (in addition to the usual minor ones) + UFA signings are what I'd like to see. And the UFA signings should not be for any more James Neal's, Mason Raymond's, Troy Brouwer's. Given that we're up against the cap, UFA's are best for filling out the edges, unless there's a golden opportunity to add a truly elite piece.

Actually, it might take more than one offseason to build a Cup contender, and that's alright as long as Treliving starts taking steps toward that this offseason.

Imagine where this team might be had they traded for ROR last summer and not signed Neal.

Still pissed the Tre missed the boat on that.

Sigh

Heck, what if Reaves chose to sign with us instead of Vegas?

Counting on Valimaki putting on 15 lbs and playing 25 minutes a game to counter-act the smallest softest defense in the playoffs?

The Flames need a big mean d-man that can play 18+ minutes a game. Engelland is a UFA.

Engelland is perfectly happy signing one year deals in Vegas for around $1M until he's done.

Cap-friendly is fun to tinker with, I enjoy them both NHL 19 proposals but also ones that "COULD" be realistic. Very unlikely the Flames blowup the core much at all, but I'd love to see us do it but without completely rebuilding.

Obviously the first one here is not even close, but it was funny to read.
I did one in a previous thread. I'll bite again cause its fun:
