I have to think his value is higher than that. There is no way I would trade Kylington for a 2nd round pick at this point. Frankly, I don't know that I would even trade him for anything less than a top ten first round pick. I'm probably not being objective but he just feels like one of those potential homerun draft picks that I would be very hesitant to move prematurely.

If the Flames are moving Kylington, move him as part of a package for a younger (not 35) goalie who'd be protected in that draft.

Varlamov for example (if they moved him at the end of this season).

What's Murray's value out of Pittsburgh? Yes he's got the cup, but his health has always been an issue, and are folks convinced he is a great goalie or a good goalie on some great penguin teams?

I would be interested to see what his price tag might be? Valimaki? Kylington+?

Yes something is going to have to give with regards to the young defensemen.

The forward group will also be in tough when it comes to the expansion draft.

It makes sense that one of the young defensemen get moved and that they only get moved for a long term goalie asset or a long term player asset (ie., 1st round draft pick or high end prospect that won't be subject to the expansion draft).

It's way too early to be worried about losing players to the expansion draft, rosters will probably change by 50% between now and then. Better to let the defensemen continue to improve, and make the (seemingly inevitable) trade later, when they are worth more.

Also, if you're concerned about the expansion draft, turn that around - there must be teams out there with more than one good young goalie, and thus also risk losing one to the draft. There's your potential trading partner.

I know it’s a few years off, but I wouldn’t be so sure. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see the Flames go 4/4 G.

Monahan, Gaudreau, Lindholm, Tkachuk
Hanifin, Andersson, Kylington, Valimaki

G

Things can certainly change but I don’t think this scenario is out of the realm of possibility.

FWIW, Treliving not with the team and scouting. Might not be anything and just catching a game.

Jeff Paterson @patersonjeff
#Flames GM Brad Treliving listed on scouts list at #Canucks vs Flyers. One of 13 teams on list. Must figure new Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher is ready to do business

Before moving on and pulling the trigger on the Carolina trade, Flames kicked the tires on Simmonds. But yeah I doubt its more than just in town for a game.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Simmonds
Tkachuk-Lindholm-Neal
Bennett-Backlund-Frolik
Jankowski-Ryan-Hathaway

I would be down with that lineup in the playoffs.

Kypreos says that Tarasenko's situation in St. Louis has been discribed as "He is not part of the solution, but he is not the problem"
Kypreos and Friedman both speculate Tarasenko could be a fit for Carolina

Andre Burakovsky's name is out there in the rumor mill. one of the teams that have inquired are the Canucks
Capitals want to repeat, don't want futures for Burakovsky, will want someone that could help them now.

Teams that are interested in Jeff Carter have been told that they have to work with him to make sure he is happy with the situation
Friedman says that he doesn't think Carter's family wants to leave California so any other teams will have to make sure he will be happy

Kypreos really making sure he stays in Tarsenko's agents (Mike Liut) good books for continued insider info, by parroting that comment on behalf of Liut.
