Didn't people finish their tool phase 10 years ago?

Tool is a phase in the same way that preferring to listen to good music is a phase.

It's great background music when surfing the internet but it's one of those things where it's kind of a sleepy song. Doesn't help that it sounds very, very familiar to Reflection. I feel after a long hiatus if they were too experimental a group of fans would complain and if they make it sound just like their old stuff then another group of fans would complain so they were probably damned if they do, damned if they don't. I think it's just okay and will probably make a lot of Tool fans happy but will not gain any new fans as if you didn't like them before you won't like this at all as it's not their best stuff.

It's a good enough tune, but I've listened a few times and no part of it really caught my ear. It's kind of like everything on 10,000 days, good tunes but they aren't bringing anything new to the table since they peaked with Lateralus.

I haven’t heard a single note of the single or the songs played live on their recent tour. I’m going in fresh.

I have no issues with their songs being long or lacking an initial “wow”. Tool is a headphones in a dark room while laying down with a lava lamp on kinda band.

Not really helping the “it’s not a phase, mom!” crowd with that one.

Nothing says you’re grown up and mature like ####ting on other people’s listening habits.

This is true. It’s why there’s an “old man yells at clouds” meme. It’s the hallmark of growth and maturity.

Making a passing remark of surprise at tool's relevance today after many people seemingly did pass through a "phase" of appetite/popularity for the band several years ago isn't really up the alley of ####ing on anybody or embodying old man yelling at cloud.

You have to admit their sound is a bit of an acquired taste in the landscape of today's music. Good on you for your continued fandom, but no need to get triggered over comments that you had to know were coming at some point being on a public board.

I've never been too interested in other's thoughts on my taste in music, because it's objectively the best.

After moving to all Apple Music after a bunch of annoying F ups with my iTunes library because of iTunes Match being a POS, I'm really, really enjoying having some Aenima and Lateralus again.

The Billboard 200 has never looked as beautiful as it does right now - every one of Tool's albums is currently sitting in the Top 20.

Tool finally gave in to the modern methods of music consumption less than two weeks ago when they added their whole discography to digital and streaming services, like Spotify and Apple Music. Just days later, they released "Fear Inoculum," the title track of their upcoming fifth album, as well as their first new song in 13 years.

The single broke records as it became the longest song to enter the Billboard Hot 100, and their 1996 release Ænima broke the Top 10 for the second time. As of yesterday, all four of their albums are in the Top 20, not including their EP Opiate.

Ænima currently sits at No. 10, Lateralus is at No. 16, 10,000 Days at No. 18 and Undertow at No. 19. Hits Daily Double predicted the four albums would share the same region of the chart last week. If the albums stay in the Top 20 for the next few weeks, they may even land a fifth one when Fear Inoculum drops on Aug. 30.

I’m glad Ænima is getting it’s due as I feel this is their finest work as it’s one of those albums where a band just gets everything right. Like Reign in Blood, Ride the Lightning, etc.

Stinkfist
Eulogy
H
46 & 2
Hooker with a Penis
Jimmy
Pu####
Ænema
Third Eye

Literally every song on the album is awesome. Jimmy might be the weakest one, but it’s still good enough to be a top track on a lot of other really good albums.

Edit: lol at the filter not liking Push.i.t.
