I'm honestly surprised Trump found time, despite his busy golf schedule, to rant about something other than minorities or women.

Such a tragedy. This world makes no sense to me at times.
Whether it turns out to be Islamic terrorism or whatever else doesn't really matter, this is terrorism and I've yet to see anyone call it that because his name is Stephen.

Jesus christ. This has nothing to do with Trump; there are over 400 people that got shot here, give the schtick a break.
From all reports in so far, guy had no real history or political/religious affiliations. I doubt it, but most people close to him are saying it is a "he must have just snapped" type situation.....but given the amount of planning involved, I'm pretty hesitant to believe thats really the case.

Seriously? First post outside of news postings in an absolutely disgusting event and it's about Trump?

Watching NBC this AM they were talking about this event and how much planning it must have taken.
It seems to me that with Nevada's gun laws you could walk right into that hotel with a machine gun and all the ammo you want, then do something like this for no better reason than the concert was keeping you up past your bedtime.

Pretty sure it's some lone old white guy that did it.

More than 10 weapons found in the hotel room, probably thousands of rounds of ammo. Gun control might help a little, but to me America is too far gone with its addiction to violence.

Are you going to be alright? It's important that we worry about you in a moment like this.

Submachine guns and automatic weapons are illegal in Nevada, just as they are pretty much everywhere.

Stephen Paddock was “known to” Las Vegas Police before he opened fire from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas late Sunday night and killed at least 50 people who were attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival. However, the 64-year-old did not have any major offenses on his criminal record. He did have a minor traffic citation and also sued a casino in 2014. The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and it’s believed that he acted alone.
Las Vegas Police Undersheriff Kevin McMahill told CNN that Paddock was found in a Mandalay Bay hotel room with at least eight weapons, including long rifles. Paddock fired from the 32nd floor. NBC News reports that the shooting is not linked to international terrorism.
“He was shot, but I cannot tell you that it was the police that shot him,” McMahill told CNN. “He may have self-inflicted that gunshot wound. Those details are still emerging throughout our investigation.”

This is just unbelievably horrifying. I really don't know what else to say about it. It's just tragic.

First of all, there's no reason to think the shooter was Muslim.
Second, basic definitions of words: an attack is not terrorism unless it is a politically or ideologically motivated. We don't have the facts. Please keep your hobby horse in the stable at least until we have some basic information (which it seems may take a while given that the perp is dead and according to police gave no indication of why he did it).

I'll make my second about this guy being another NRA hero exercising his second amendment rights and fighting for "freedom" by slaughtering concert goers.
Like it or not, the political aspect of these events are relevant. lndeed, Killer Carlson - correctly - included Trump's empty tweet in his op summary.

Possessing machine guns/automatic weapons is legal in Nevada if they are registered. It's why you can shoot an AK at the ranges down there.

Nevada law disagrees with you.
This is terrorism.
"The state's statute says an “act of terrorism means any act that involves the use or attempted use of sabotage, coercion or violence which is intended to cause great bodily harm or death to the general population”.

You're quite right re: automatic weapons. My use of the term machine gun was overbroad.
That said, nothing to stop a person checking in with their assault weapons and deciding to fire on people on a whim. Some of those guns can be modified to fire automatically too, as I understand it. And, it seems, so long as you're okay with it being 30 years old, some proper machine guns are legal too.
Either way, if you have the means, I don't think this necessarily requires a ton of sophisticated planning.

Pretty classy of you to swoop in on this tragedy to try and score political/debate points.
