Hana was more than just a touring pro. One of the best women’s players of the open era. Good bloodlines for Elizabeth.

Yes, let's give Hana her proper due EE...
During her playing career, she won four Grand Slam singles titles: the 1980 Australian Open, 1981 French Open, 1985 US Open, and the 1987 Australian Open.

46 career titles and a 565-194 singles record. She was up against Navratilova and Evert in their prime years of may have won a few more grand slams. Makes me feel old now ha ha.

They are doing something right in the Czech Republic as far as churning out tennis players are concerned, the men have fallen off a little from the glory days of Ivan Lendl and Petr Korda, but they have tremendous depth on the WTA tour (both singles and doubles).

Updates from across the pond:
Felix has forced a deciding set against Huesler - Lost the opening set in a tie-break, but won set 2 6-4
Shapo just delivered a breadstick to Taylor Fritz in Vienna

Felix picks a great time to break the dynamite Huesler serve and is serving for the match at 5-4 in set 3.
Edit: Serves it out to love - Tricky opponent today as FAA couldn't get much rhythm in this match. Also, Fritz won set 2 6-4 over Shapo so they are going three sets in Vienna.

Denis with a big break just now and is serving at 4-2 in set 3.
Edit: Consolidates the break with a fine service game.

Yes, Shapo takes the match over Fritz winning set 3 6-3. Really good performance from Denis today.

Indeed. On another note, maybe this result just might ease some of Nishioka's heartbreak.
As for Shapo, he plays Evans next. Hope he's as sharp as he was in this one because Evo is often a tricky opponent.

Rebecca Marino won her match earlier today in Mexico and if Leylah wins her match tonight, they will clash in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
Edit: Leylah takes care of business and it will indeed be Rebecca vs. Leylah on Thursday.

I expect Marino may be the type of player (big serve) to give Fernandez trouble. Maybe?
Unfortunate to not meet later, but guarantees a Canadian in semis, and will be fun to watch.

Grigor Dimitrov with likely his best performance of 2022 as he eliminates Andrey Rublev 6-3 6-4 in Vienna.

Yeah, obviously Rebecca's biggest weapon is her serve, but she has really improved her shot consistency. Leylah is also back to looking like the Leylah of old, movement is back and her ground strokes are looking very good this week. It should be a fun match.

Random Question, Is anyone going to the Calgary Challenger tournament?
I heard on the radio that they were advertising Kei Nishikori going to be there, but he doesn't appear to be on the player list on the website...
He was one of my favourite players several years ago and remember seeing him in Toronto and Montreal and would love to watch him again.

Yeah, Kei unfortunately had to pull out. I'm no longer living in Calgary, so I won't be attending, but it should be a great event with Vasek and Genie and I think also Rebecca Marino flying the Canadian colors.

I guess Kecmanovic was still hungry as Felix delivered a bagel in set 2. Just crazy good tennis from FAA.
Edit: Felix gets Bublik tomorrow which won't be easy, Bublik has a big serve and won a indoor tourney earlier this year. With Rublev losing in Vienna earlier today, Felix has a chance to catch and pass Rublev in the race to Turin with a couple more wins.

Holy sh1t...that was something else!!
All in only 49 minutes too and nothing and I mean absolutely NOTHING Kecmanovic could've done about this.
That was a KO. A bloody KO!
