I know my opinion means squat in the grand scheme of things but I really like Simmons and think he'll be a big piece of the team next year (as long as he can stay healthy). I'd build the midfield around Simmons, Loturi, and Norman and try and bring in an offensive minded guy to mix into that group and bring some attacking prowess. Or play Camargo in a deeper role, that could be an option. Then Ledgerwood, Adekugbe, and Di Chiari can fit in as needed. Bringing Ledgerwood on as a 65' sub to run around and cause havoc on the opposing side would be lethal.

Oliver signed with York. Looks like York is becoming a destination for Cavalry players...

Logistically too, with Minatel also a proud Permanent Resident of Canada, he will not be deemed an international player.
That is so cool! I did not know that about Oliver! I wish him the best of luck (outside of playing Cavalry), he's a great guy.

Traffrod and Ledgerwood? Or is Rossi one of them?

If McNaughton was the quid, then Singh is the pro quo.

In lower division news, League1 Ontario is going to be splitting into 3 divisions with promotion / relegation in 2024. Sounds like this is happening for both the men's and women's leagues. Sounds like a good idea to me...

Pacific FC's Kadin Chung is apparently trialing at TFC. That makes him the 2nd player TFC might poach after McNaughton. This is in addition to Forge stealing two of their talents.

Man that team is getting ripped apart, even after winning the league title.

Watched Bevan a few years ago with Whitecaps 2 and he wasn't particularly good. Hopefully he has improved since then. Guessing this is a Selemani replacement so not expecting much from him. On the positive, he's got his Canadian PR so it's not a use of an international spot.

Some inside info on Edmonton's roster for 2022. It's basically been gutted.

Quote:
The FC Edmonton players signed directly to the club this season will be a collection of minimum salary athletes from a few different paths: second-chance professionals, young prospects, a few wildcards, and one or two FC Edmonton Academy products who got their first taste of the pro game last year.

By design, the biggest squad rebuild ever seen in the league will minimize cost to the club owners who are already going above and beyond to keep the boys in blue running.
Given that the other CPL ownership groups are paying player wages over and above their own club's salaries, this makes sense. It's either that or fold the club. Will be a rough year in Edmonton for sure...

That's really sad to see.

Before anyone goes "well it's Edmonton and they deserver it", think about how the CPL can grow with markets of that size (or less), think about the potential for a proper Al Classico, and think how finding the right 'people' to build a franchise is a very tough find for any market.

If Victor Cui had some extra time and interest, that would be a fantastic addition to revive FCE while he's doing so with the Elks. Unlikely though.

Well I just went to check out the jersey deals, and noticed that Ledgerwood has retired....

Definitely surprising to me as Tommy mentioned he was coming back for one more year when I spoke to him at the supporters night. Maybe he's taking Nash's spot on the coaching staff...
