Amazing Race 33 -- It's finally back! -- January 5, 2022

Kim and Penn interviewed Michael and Moe on the podcast and Michael mentioned losing weight before the race, because some activities had weight restrictions. I understood it as just in general, not in reference to this particular task.

It's interesting to see the difference in how Kim and Penn are with each other and Akbar and Sheri. Akbar and Sheri are always wearing the "love" shirts, but they don't come across as being very loving to each other in times of stress.

Yeah, I look at those two (Akbar and Sheri) and wonder how they made it the 19 months between the shows. It feels like Akbar just doesn't like Sheri, and spends a lot of his time running her down.

I saw that one coming though. For cops, they have piss-poor powers of observation. The right way to do the story was on the belt in front of the judge the entire time.

Those 2 Buffalo cops did not seem like the sharpest pencils in the box. Who the heck reads a story from right to left?

Akbar is kind of annoying. He certainly does not acknowledge his wife's current limitations and capabilities. Not the most supportive husband.

This week, the race continues in Switzerland. Sheri's a badass and Akbar isn't. Arun & Natalia get lost but survive with a non-elimination leg.

Assuming they do a full season of episodes, we'll be getting a non-elimination on basically every other leg from here to the end.

I like Kim and Penn as a couple and team, I never thought I’d fined myself pulling for them. They are polite, work well together and were/ are prepared for the Race. It is hard to believe that after 19 months some teams came back and made the same mistakes, didn’t improve their conditioning, fitness or map reading. Akbar comes across as a total jerk and whinny *****. I think it has to be between Kim and Penn and the boys, the remaining field seems weak. The new travel conditions could be an equalizer though.

I don't understand how you end up an hour the wrong direction in a place like Switzerland. There are signs for places everywhere. Look at a place name, look on your map, and realize in about 15 seconds you are going the wrong way. It's baffling.

Well, that bungee jump was pretty awesome. Huge, huge props to Sheri for doing that.

I am certain that there is more to their relationship than we see, but man is Akbar ever a negative dick.

Good to see my remaining pair jumping up. They seem to be a lot better this time around than '19 months ago' go.

Well, for all Akbar's complaining about Sheri, turns out he's not in great shape anymore either.

This week, the teams head to Corsica. Ryan & Dusty struggle to make cheese, but destroy it everywhere else.

Akbar finally gets his chance to shine on a physical Roadblock... and they get eliminated.

His little speech about the end of "of it's OK if you leave everything out on the filed" apparently only applied to him, and not his wife. Watching him flail through the river, barely able to stand was amusing, after seeing how he gave her so much crap.

Yeah, I was watching the episode, and all I could think of was "For all the cr@p you give your wife about her physical prowess, you ain't doing much yourself." And then when he was wheezing and gasping along, SHE was supportive and positive of his efforts.

I was a bit surprised to see Ryan & Dusty beast back so far.

Question for those who have been watching longer...Have they ever had a total split on a roadblock or detour? One that no team chose? I was thinking the "Make Cheese" challenge was going to go that way until finally someone picked the "Donkey" one.

I'm amazed the second boat group even got it in 2 tries, they were so scattered. I would have gone with the RAIFS method. Redundant Array of Independent Fish Spotters. 2 people on each side, with each person spotting 5 fish. No jumping back and forth, shouting stuff out, and general chaos. Just sit, spot your 5, and you've got a backup set of eyes. Really, it's a RAIFS 10.
