They did..after Saturday’s game in Toronto.

And international transfer rule 5.2.1 of the CPL rule book was recently amended: Any and all defector professional players or national team members, are to be first offered to Forge FC for an exclusive 21 day signing window. Any attempt by other CPL teams to sign said players in that window will result in 3 league points docked for each attempt. Said potential transfers will not count toward Forge salary cap either for the rest of the season, and the roster size will be temporarily increased to accommodate, with no penalty toward Forge FC.

So, if my calculations are accurate I have the current CONCACAF standings as:

1-4: Mexico/USA/Costa Rica/Jamaica in some order
5: Honduras - 1357 points
6: El Salvador - 1327 points
7: Canada - 1322 points
8: Curacao - 1320 points
9: Panama - 1316 points
10: Haiti - 1277 points

The loss by El Salvador was huge for Canada as it brings the last hex spot into reach. Honduras with the win over Chile gives them a bit more of a gap.

I see Panama and Curacao have a friendly scheduled against each other for the next window which sucks for us since either one of them gaining points hurts us.

October matches:
Honduras: Trinidad & Tobago (A), Martinique (H) -no points at stake
El Salvador: Montserrat (A), Saint Lucia (A)
Canada: USA (H)
Curacao: Panama (A)(friendly), Costa Rica (A)
Panama: Curacao (H)(friendly), Mexico (A)
Haiti: Costa Rica (H)

USA at home will be huge! All I ask of Herdman is to PLEASE not start any of Larin, Wotherspoon, or Johnson that game. We need our best 11 to get a result.

Two away games for El Salvador will not be easy. I dont care how lowly ranked the teams are.

In the Champions League, Borjan is starting for Red Star today, with Davies on the bench of Bayern. Would be neat to see them head to head, but I'm thinking it will only happen if Bayern can't break through and need a late push, or if the game is put to bed and Bayern start giving the bench some chances. Or injury, of course.

Has there been a time where two Canadian players have been on the same pitch in Champions League before?

^ In the end, it was not to be. Davies never got on the pitch, and Borjan was busy and conceded 3. Could've been much, much worse too.

Big game coming up!

Canada vs USA in Toronto on Tuesday. While this is not technically a World Cup Qualifier, the result will have a huge impact on our world cup qualifying campaign. The last time Canada and USA played a game this meaningful against each other was more than 20 years ago.

My many years of being a hard core Canadian supporter have conditioned me to failure, then optimism followed by disappointment, yet I'm feeling pretty hyped for this one considering the quality in our current side and also the yanks being in a period of relative decline. Hope our boys can play like they're capable of playing and get the W!

You are correct. Give OneSoccer a try! If you sign up for the free trial now, you'll still have it when Cavalry FC are playing in the CPL finals (oct 26 and Nov 2)!

In case anyone is wondering why Tuesday's game is not on cable, it was actually offered to both TSN and Sportsnet, and both networks declined. In the past, the CSA actually had to pay to get their games on the network. Just one symptom of the uphill battle soccer faces in this country. If people want this sport to grow, they really need to open their wallets and support it by buying the product offered.

And speaking of Tuesday night's game, we'll be watching it at the Rose and Crown via OneSoccer Tuesday night. Come by and support one of the few pubs in this city behind the cause!

Too bad CSA.

I'm sure they'll blame the big bad networks, when it's likely been years of the CSA turning the relationship toxic, trying to dictate to the networks the terms, acting as if there is some sort of obligation for games to be shown. Incompetentance runs through that organization and this is no different.

That said, this is not an official qualifier, it's on a night when Snet has much more lucrative MLB playoffs and regional hockey. And TSN just doesn't feel like it.

Good on one soccer for picking it up so those interested can see it, and good on CBC for picking up the CPL Finals.

As Mango has said I this thread, as her being part of the media, the CSA is a nightmare to deal with, their nose so far in the air about their supposed position in this country, that they are to blame, but will happily play the victim.

And I do feel for the CMNT proper, they're the ones having to deal with this organization and the decisions it makes, daily.

I totally get it from the network's point of view. There is no reason for them to show the games given the complete lack of interest the general public has in the national team. If you want your product on TV it needs to be worth showing. And it's not.

Anyways, the 20 of us in Calgary who actually care will be at the Rose and Crown Tuesday night...

Wait. MEDIAPRO owns the broadcast rights to to both WNT & MNT. This wouldn’t befall CSF, as much as TSN/CBC/SportsNet not working with MediaPro, correct?

For those that can't watch this live, I discovered something nifty. On a PC, windows key + G will open the Xbox game bar and you can capture your screen, AKA record the game.

Make sure to visit settings and bump your max recording time from 2 hours up to 4 hours.

Also, change the recorded audio to be everything (something like game + system+ apps) as I don't believe you'll get the audio from the default setting with my tests.

Funny you mention this as I have been experimenting with screen recording to make up for OneSoccer's delay in getting games up online afterwards. That's actually my only criticism of OneSoccer, and even with the replay delays cramping my timeshifting ways, it is still great value and I would recommend the service to everyone.

Tomorrow night for Canada vs. USA, however, my kid has a 1.5 hour volleyball practice between 5:30 and 7, so I'll be able to watch pretty much all of it live. Yay me. I think that the venue even has Shaw wifi, but if not, I am prepared to burn a few gigs of data if needed.

But I'll definitely be exploring the Xbox game bar thingy that you mention. My experiments with ShareX have been "just OK", but I haven't found a nice balance between frame rate and a 5 gig file size.

I am quite excited for this one. I still don't like the way that Concacaf dicked around with the qualifying format, but that's the framework we are given. I feel that we can get something out of tomorrow's match.

I’m starting to get excited and my hope for a result is increasing the closer we get to kickoff.

Is this the biggest match for Canada since that fateful day in Honduras in 2012(?)
