The CGY branding leads me to the former rather than the latter however as the Flames moved from the FanAttic to the CGY Team Store the previous year. The Blasty RR has the same CGY logo as well

Because all of the reverse retros jerseys were based on retro templates- most just with a color swap.
Flames have never worn a jersey with that template before. And the colors? I’m not sure going to the colors you wore literally the season before counts as retro

Too much for a shoulder patch, too boring for a main logo. Shoulder patches aren't meant to attract attention away from the main logo in that manner. It's like putting two patches of a runner up main jersey logo on the shoulders.

OK - agree to disagree here. I like the patch overall. I do think however that in that mockup and on the horrible script alternate jersey, that they were executed wrong - they should be smaller. So I do agree that they take away from the main logo in that sense. If they were smaller they'd be perfect.

Yeah those shoulder patches are nice when used right.
BC-Chris made the retro mock up with those re-colored patches on the shoulders and they looked great.
That abandoned third just looks bad in multiple different ways and looks like a bad proto-type, so I kind of take how it all looks with a grain of salt.

Rumor is this will be the Flames RR jersey next year, not sure on the validity but the guy is very confident in this. He also said they are still deciding on whether to go red or black.... personally I hope they go red

I think a red one with a white C would actually work with the Adidas design. This one tho looks too busy IMO

It would be way too late in the jersey approval process for them to still be able to make such a huge change as making the base of the uniform red instead of black.
They would likely be about to start the manufacturing stage at this point, if they haven't already.

While I could see the Flames going to a black RR (which would be a true reverse retro) based on the pedestal, it won't have nearly as much red on the shoulders or yellow on the lower sleeve. That particular one is a concept like hundreds on Reddit, nothing more.

Well that's embarrassing.
I'm sure this is a plant by Sutter. He'll use it on day to tell them if they lose they'll have to wear these jerseys next year.

The pedestal was never good. Not even nostalgia can make it so.

And to be frank, there is nothing about the pedestal-jersey years to be nostalgic about. That was the time when the '89 Flames were being systematically stripped and sold for parts.

Maybe, but at least the Flames made the playoffs in that set a couple seasons. The Horseheads were worn 1 or 2 times in 2003-04, the last year of their existence and only time the team made they playoffs in the 7 years they were worn.
It’s really the only one of the few options in the spirit of RR. You could do a black 2004 with a white crest, unless you go off the wall and make a recoloured white retro like the Oilers did, swapping red shoulders with yellow (or black).
