I watched a few early 80s Christmas specials with my nieces yesterday: the Chipmunks Christmas and The Christmas Racoons. They weren't quite what I remembered.

Chipmunks was something else. Basically a kid is dying so his sister wants to give him a golden harmonica to make him better, but the mother tells her they need all their money to get the kid through Christmas--okaaay--and the daughter's like 'the hell does that mean?' and the mother responds "shhhh!" Alvin overhears this exchange at a department store while he's pining over the same harmonica, and decides to raise the dough. Then Mrs. Claus buys him the harmonica, and while at a Christmas Eve performance at Carnegie Hall, Dave surprises Alvin by bringing the dying child along--but he's now cured. Boom: Christmas miracle.

Home Alone 1 & 2 for sure. Last year we watched 3-6 just for fun. 3 was actually passable, but then rest, woof. 1 & 2 are definitely holiday staples. Same with Elf. Love that movie.

I've never watched a Home Alone movie.

Going to this year for the first time since my daughter is of an age she'd appreciate it.

I liked Home Alone 2 more than 1. If only they could edit Trump out of 2.

I'd like to see Violent Night as it looks like so much fun.
I looked and it's on Crave, so that's out for me.

Has anyone gone to see Silent Night with Joel Kinnaman? I didn't see any comments in the movie thread yet.

Definitely one of our go to's this time of year

Also, I think not mentioned
Friday After Next
Bram Stoker's Dracula

and I think I will add Violent Night to the mix. I don't know if it will pass the test of time, but it was pretty funny and enjoyable first time.

My wife and I usually watch the extended Lord of the Rings around Christmas.
We used to do the Hobbit extended too, but that seems to have stopped.

Forgot how good Krampus is. Worth a watch even if your not a horror fan.

Finally saw Fred Claus, and while it wasn't very good--terrible, in fact--Paul Giamatti has never not been terrific in whatever he's in.

Jeez dude, there are spoiler tags for a reason. Come on!

Also I just started my Christmas watching last night with the Guardians of Galaxy Christmas. Loved them kidnapping Kevin Bacon.
