I think that we can all agree that this has been a tremendously fun season with way more ups then down and surprisingly the Flames find themselves sitting somewhat comfortably in 1st in the West.
Their nearest competitors for the Western Crown are
San Jose 7 points back + 1 for ROW
Nashville 10 points back + 1 for ROW
Winnipeg 11 points back + 1 for ROW
Its unlikely that
Las Vegas 16 points back + 1 for ROW is going to catch them.
So basically whatever the record that the Flames compile over the next 18 games they control their destiny.
San Jose would have to be 4 wins better then the Flames over the next 18
Nashville 6 wins
Winnipeg 6 wins
Las Vegas 9 wins.
So the Flames final schedule is this
Minny w
Toronto otl
@ Vegas w
@ Ari w
Vegas l
NJ w
NYR w
@ Win w
Columbus l
Ott w
@ Van w
LA w
Dal w
Ana w
@ SJS w
@ ANA otl
@ LA w
EDM w
So some stats. The Flames have 11 home games, 7 road games They have one back to back series left during a 2 game road trip against Vegas and Ari
Out of this they are playing 10 games against teams outside of the playoffs.
So here just for fun is the poll.
I've posted what I believe is going to be the Flames record based on these games 14 2 2. This is probably really optimistic but whatever. But based on this the only team that would be in range to be able to catch us would be San Jose.
Also adding 30 points would give the Flames a 119 point record (Wait what? ) which would break the Flames seasons point total from 88/89 by 2 points (* that season was 80 games long and no ot points)
So
Predict your record
Do the Flames take first in the Western Conference?
Do the Flames finish 2nd in the NHL ?
Do they break their single seasons point record?

If the Flames go 15-2-1 with all but 2 ROW, then they are guaranteed the conference. 14-2-2 as the OP predicted would require the Sharks to go 17-0 to win the conference.
