After a pretty good start, Carolina has now gone 0-4-1 in their last 5 with another loss tonight.

If the Matheson hit and body slam was worth 2 games, the Lucic indcident should be at least as many. Too bad him missing time will benefit the Oilers.

Was that MPS scoring in the Ottawa game? What hole did he crawl out of?

All in all, a pretty good night so far if you're a Flames fan. Now we just need the Wild to do us a favor.

As for the Kings/Ducks, I just hope it's not a 3 point game. But I hate the Ducks more, so I could live with a Kings win.

The Flames got into first place with the win on Saturday, and will remain in first place entering tomorrow’s games.

The answer to my own question is Edmonton
Edmonton is the hole he crawled out of.
As you were.

I read his name in the box score and couldn’t believe it myself. He’s like a bad penny.

He’s more like a lucky penny as anywhere is better than Edmonton...

Apparently that’s his first point of the season, playing every game of the season.

Somehow, he’s a -2 for the game, despite his team winning by 4 goals, and scoring a goal himself.

Yeah he did and it was from behind. It was a bad hit, but seemed heat of the moment and not with deliberate intent like when Keith did it to Dube. Similar positioning, though.

Weird, I thought he went back to Europe like three years ago, but he's been in the NHL all this time (with a good amount of AHL time in the mix). There are just too many Oiler first-round busts to keep track of (yes, I know, glass houses and all).

Oilers fans are jumping to defend Lucic on twitter but would lose their minds if someone rocked McDavid away from the play....

I don't think Lucic was that overboard, possibly a suspension in the new NHL though.

Starts with a slash, followed by him speeding (Lucic version) with a interference body check, followed by sucker punching.

I'm not sure how that isn't a suspension.

A huge meathead play for sure.

The Department of NHL player safety has reviewed the incident involving Milan Lucic. Its clear that his actions were predatory in nature as he stalked his opponent around the ice for several seconds. Mr Lucic then proceeded to throw a clearly targeted hit on a player without the puck and followed it up with a punch at the defenseless players head. Lucic then straddled over his opponent and rubbed his groin over his face.

to summarize Mr Lucic:

Stalked his opponent
Hit a unaware player who was far away from the puck
Threw a punch at the defenseless players head
Gave his opponent the Arabian Goggles.

The department of player safety is keenly concerned with errr player safety. Because of his actions the department has decided that as punishment Lucic must be played with McDavid whenever McDavid is on the ice whether at regular strength for the next 10 games, the powerplay or penalty killing. This should suffice as a punishment as its guaranteed to kill any offensive output from the Oilers top line.

George Parros
Head of NHL Player safety and magical controller of the spinning wheel of justice.
