Women's final is at 11am today for anyone interested. What an excellent sports day with the Blue Jays, PGA tour (Valero open) and Blue Jays.

If this tournament has taught me anything it's that the future of the WTA is much much brighter than the ATP.

NF, can you elaborate on this post? Are you saying this from a Canadian tennis perspective or just tennis in general? I think there are some very good young guys on the ATP tour, maybe not quite at the level of the Big Three, but pretty close. The funny thing (of course Bianca has a lot to do with it) is I'm finding myself much more engaged with WTA matches these days.

I was thinking more of tennis in general. There are a couple young exciting players on the WTA that have the potential to be all time greats and winning multiple Grand Slams. There are going to be some very exciting tournaments and some very marketable athletes on the WTA .

The Men's side I think while they have some exciting young players I think Grand Slams will be more unpredictable. I can see a scenario where players ranked in the 20s make Grand Slam finals regularly and potentially win a Grand Slam out of the blue only to disappear from the scene. So basically the ATP and WTA are going to switch what's been happening these past 10 years .

Also I think the shadow of the big 3 will loom over the ATP where fans will go yea that was good tennis but I've seen better.

I agree. Both tours go through cycles. The WTA has been sort of Serena-less the last few years and struggled to find consistency. It's might be finding some consistency now with Barty, Osaka and Andreescu.

The ATP might be going back to it's between Sampras and Federer years where there were a bunch of one-time grand slam champs like Korda, Kafelnikov, Moya, etc...

Well, that was a fast three games and all going to Barty. No nonsense from the Aussie.

Barty looks great. Let's see if Bianca can break her, like she does most opponents.

Barty has a big serve for someone only 5'6". Consistently 110 mph.

OT..but Mango?

I heard you pronounce a name in a Whitecaps story this morning as i was driving around and i almost spit my coffee out.

It was a Greek name unquestionably, but it sounded like it was about 22 letters long...lol

Good job on getting it right though!

Bianca has to clean up these unforced errors to have any chance in this match.

Bianca needs to be more clinical with those volleys at the net.

This looks like any combination of injury, fatigue and illness...not at all surprising given how taxing this past week was. She will learn how to dispatch opponents more efficiently in earlier rounds, but this is still a ridiculously good comeback from such a long and worrisome period away from tour.
