Cleaning people make me uncomfortable. I do it myself.

No, but when she is done vacuuming, the lines she leaves on the rug are perfectly aligned and parallel with the wall.

I had a couple of my ex-girlfriends clean my place (not at the same time, duh) and the problem was I'd clean things like the toilet and other grotty areas myself so I wouldn't be embarrassed to have them come by and see. Which rather defeated the point of having someone else clean....

Me.

I do a lousy job, but it would be really awkward to get rid of me.

Thanked for "grotty". I haven't heard that term since I read my cousin's English football comics when I was a little kid. Billy's Boots, if memory serves.

Returning to topic, I do the daily maintenance cleaning during the week, my wife does the heavy duty cleaning on the weekends. I should pay a professional cleaning service to come in every few months. It might just pay off.

I certainly hope my wife's clean. But yes, some wives do clean!

Believe it or not I actually have a Filipino maid.

Yes, I am a cliche, I understand that.

When your wife asks "Whats on TV tonight?"

Don't reply with "Dust"

I live alone.... so nobody does.

Friend of mine used these guys for some carpet cleaning and they also offer regular cleaning. Said he'd recommend them. I have no personal experience though

We looked into getting a house cleaner for our home but were surprised at how expensive the local rates are. For our home it would be about $250 per month for cleaning. So we decided to do it ourselves....we use the savings to put towards our travel funds (Vegas!)

We hired a very sweet older woman to clean house, and occasionally look after the kids. She was extremely punctual, did a wonderful job with cooking and cleaning, and bonded unnaturally well with the kids. Like she'd known them. She became like a Grandma to them, and I felt that I could often confide in her, it's as if she was part of the family. We were cautious because we didn't find much about her past as we did some light background checks, but it became less and less concerning as time went on. I'd totally recommend her right now, but we took her out to dinner with us and she turned out to be a man.

That would be so much creepier in real life

I am looking for a cleaning service in the Red Deer area (Blackfalds), but I always chicken out because I would feel weird and assume they were always going through my things.

My parents and I have the same house keeper and she is the sister of our previous house keeper, who was the roommate of our last housekeeper. We buy her round trip air fare to the Philippines every couple of years, which I think is a good gesture! Treating people well goes a long way.
