I'm not saying that's what its used for, I was just under the assumption that if its coal from BC, its probably metallurgical.
97% of all Canadian coal exports are metallurgical coal so you're probably right.

Husky went cap in hand a couple months ago for their White Rose project, I would assume most of the money will go to that project.

Metallurgical coal is still melted down and that process also has carbon emissions all the same guys (more maybe even?). Whether they are burning it for energy or smelting it for metals it doesn’t matter because the end result is still bad for the environment.

How does B.C. get away with such bs? They act as if the coast is theirs and they’re the stewards of the environment when in actuality they’re probably worse than Alberta when it comes to actually making an effort on environmental innovation and trying to do things the right way. Dump sewage in the ocean, export coal and block lighter end fuels with less emissions, install jet fuel pipeline to Vancouver airport but block Alberta’s connections all in the name of money (let’s be honest), grow ferry trips in allegedly sensitive whale / ecological habitat but block oil tankers even though no history of spillage or the most minute chance of it happening... allow ships of horrendous chemicals, sugar, other massive marine contaminants sit around Vancouver harbour no worries... block development everywhere else on the coast if possible, protest oil and gas.

What a bunch of irrational, illogical sheepy chumps. BC is probably right neck and neck with Quebec for provinces that care the least about the environment.

The argument for metelurgical coal is the lack of a suitable alternative. Hydrogen injection tech is getting there but in its infancy. Compared to coal for power where gas and nuclear are 100% viable replacements.

God that form of communication is ####ing obnoxious. Lets jam as many buzzwords into a sentence as we can. People who do that realize it's transparent right?

It feels like they went "right-click, find synonyms" on every single word.

Extremely transparent, but it maintains plausible deniability.

That answer basically confirms layoffs and doesn't say anything more, and most importantly, has nothing quote-worthy for media. Perfect PR answer.

I think they are referring to the investment in Keystone XL.

Liguids pipeline...

Totally separate from yesterdays changes in CGO...Canada Gas Operations...

Just received a text from a former colleague of mine, and apparently it is mainly “older and long-term” people that were affected. I called it “managing pension liabilities”. This was just the Canada Gas side which had the layoffs, nothing in the corporate side (yet)
