I think there is a very real possibility that Mike Smith prices himself out of Edmonton this off-season.

The Oilers may be having a good covid-regular season, but they get dummied by any top 10 team in the league, and have trouble with middle of the pack teams. See their 12 of 16 losses this season against Toronto, Winnipeg and Montreal.

3-5-1 v. Toronto 19GF 31GA (-12)

No.

Not even a bloated record against the worst team in the Division can save the Edmonton Oilers.

Nothing can save them.

Nothing.

Edmonton is no good.

Its actually amazing that the Senators have played them so consistently poorly.

Its unusual for any team to up and lose 9 straight or whatever it is in regulation to anybody.

In any "good" regular season for them its funny that there is always something unusual contributing to it that makes one raise an eyebrow.

Historic PP covering up for bottom third even strength.

Now Smith playing above his largely mediocre career numbers and Ottawa bloating the win column.

Playoff/play-in time never fails to peel the lipstick off the pig though.

Edmonton is no good.

Connor flying-elbows McDavid is no good.
Leon my-####-doesn't-stink Draisaitl is no good.
Mike resting-bitch-face Smith is no good.
James the living ponzi scheme Neal is no good.
Darnell fake-tough-guy Nurse is no good.
Zach the Kavemen Kassian is no good.
Ryan the Tenderness is no good.

It's just possible that the only thing McDingus and Draisaitl do for the Oilers is prevent the organization from getting any more high draft picks. Really. I think that's it. It's so no good it's almost beautiful; like a rainbow appearing in the vapor rising from an open sewer in the early morning sunlight.

totally, amazing year offensively and they are a playoff team because they go 9-0 against the bottom team in the division.

Where are they in a normal schedule where you don't play the last place team 9 times? Bubble at best.

oiler fans are losing their minds over the McAvi comment.
"He's being treated like a piece of meat, a circus animal"
"The league purposely destroyed the Cave memorial"
"Anyone who doesn't agree is a sociopath"
Good grief

There is a thread on hf talking about McAvi not liking having to play a game on the same day as the Colby Cave anniversary service.

I had to unsub from r/Hockey. The amount of knob gobbling for the oilers and McHobo about this is insufferable

At the end of the day, it was an excuse for not showing up veiled as a legitimate reason because on the surface it appears to warrant sympathy.

Many people on planet earth attend those events and work on the same day. They don't get paid five figures for their shifts.

I’m sure Cave would have wanted them to go out and play hard and win one in his honour. Not mope and complain that the league had them play that day.

Bedard ended his season with 28 points in 15 games, which is the best in the WHL. 15 years old.

Looks like he'll play in the U18s.

So a 15 year old prospect looses their grandfather, still plays the next game and dedicates it to him. instead of using it as an excuse, uses it as motivation.

McPOS is such an oiler.

Funny that there were no complaints until they they were blown out by our lowly Flames.

If Smith comes down to playing like the real Smith...we can cue in the loosing streak and the abundance of excuses.

I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL thought about it assumed the Oilers, and McDavid, would be extra motivated and have a banner night.

He's more of a "Let's go" skulk-off-the-bench-after-losing-the-game type of guy
