They’re reportedly working on a Hawkeye series starring Jeremy Renner.

Interface very similar to Netflix.

Launch timeline has "North America" launching together. Hopefully, that's good news for Canada and we don't have to wait years for it.

Going to be interesting to see how well this does. For me, I'm not adding an extra streaming service to my monthly bills when I already have Netflix and the content on Disney+ doesn't really appeal to me enough.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that this is going to be popular.

Netflix gets worse every month. Disney is going to eat their lunch.

I didnt realize NatGeo is also part of this. This is going to be a day 1 order in my house, thats for sure.

I hope they cover a lot of the TV shows like Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Miles From Tomorrow, etc.

Yeah, I'm gonna have 3 kids under 5 by the time this comes out. It's a day 1 subscribe.

Of all the streaming services to come out, this is the first one I feel is really a threat to Netflix. They are throwing everything they've got behind it, and they've got a lot.

If I remember correctly they plan on making it slightly cheaper than Netflix too

Wow pretty appealing... price point will be a huge factor though. If they do it right (cheap enough) they will absolutely crush it. But I could see them getting greedy out the hop.

$10-15/month would be my ideal start if I was marketing manager.

Launching November 12. $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year. (Presumably slightly higher in Canada)

Original 4:3 Simpsons in all its pre HD glory or those awful FX versions that have been pan and scanned into 16:9?

I'm all for competition - but from a consumer perspective, it's going to be annoying logging in or switching between platforms. It'll be one or the other.

I wonder for Disney+ if they'll release all episodes for new series at the same time.

I agree this will eventually put a big dent in the market share for Netflix

I'm surprised these companies don't see a benefit in conglomerating these streaming platforms. I don't see people really subscribing to multiple platforms. I mean we only subscribe to 1 and don't plan to add any.

We're on three plans already and I don't have a problem with it. Before we cut the cord two years ago, cable was costing us close to $100 a month. With three subscription plans we're only at $40, so we're still away ahead. Sure, it's a bit of an inconvenience having multiple wishlists. But Apple TV has universal voice searches, so I can look anything up and open it directly in a matter of seconds.

This is just the way the market is going. I doubt we'll ever again see one platform with the amount of content Netflix offered four years ago.

But really, video entertainment has never been cheaper. I was talking about this with my wife the other day, and looking back 12 years ago, these were our home video expenses:

Cable: $80/mo
Renting movies at Blockbuster: $40/mo
Buying DVDs and boxed sets: $60/mo

We're spending a fraction of that today for access to far, far more content.

I'm a dad too. i'll end up having to get this.

especially as I'm assuming I'll lose the disney and disney jr I currently get in my Shaw package.

at least the volume of content appears to be worth the money, especially if you can download and access offline.

I have no interest in superheroes or Star Wars. Will be curious to see if there is anything worth spending money on...
