haha, that's pretty funny to see Brian Lashoff technically getting traded for a 1st and 3rd.
fair play to Tampa. They know their window and now they just go out there and get #### done, no matter what.

LeBrun shows Lashoff going to Tampa, but Detroit’s twitter has Lashoff in Columbus.

That is a HUGE return for Brian Lashoff. Wonder if we can get a 1st and 3rd for Nesterov

Tampa can afford to do this as they are a well built and well run team. Maybe someday the Flames will be too....

also another example of Yzerman being a heck of a GM ... getting a 4th for a bit of short-term cap space is a neat little move for a rebuilding team. The Tampa connection probably helped facilitate this, but still, nice work.

Yeah. Finding picks anywhere you can is huge. Snagging Edmonton’s 3rd while getting Edmonton to eat $750K on Looch was a nice bit of work by Tree on that front. I hope he manages to do stuff like this between now and the deadline.

Hypothetical question; if another team was involved, could they retain 50% of 25% for a 6th rd pick? That is ridiculous.

no, you can only retain a part of a player's contract twice.

As a Panthers fan, I love it. As a Flames fan, I hate it.

So you can only trade for a player at 50% retained salary. Due to the three way nature of this deal, Tampa gets the player at 75% retained?
Nice work!

It must be getting to the end of the run way for Kekäläinen and Torts . Last year they eliminated the Leafs and battled toe to toe with TB. The year before they swept TB and went 6 games with the Bruins. Now they are in a rebuild??
Domi for Anderson
PLD for Laine and Roslovic
Now he starts his search for a true #1C. As the Flames have shown; not that easy. Right now Monahan / Lindholm >>> Domi/Roslovic

NOT A UFA
Is this really so hard to understand? Tampa might have the worst cap situation in the NHL for next season

Exactly, Tampa only had a cap compliant roster this year because Kucherovs $9 million salary is on LTIR, plus they grabbed a bunch of additional LTIR relief.
Capfriendly has them projected at $3.5 million OVER the cap next season with only 14 players on the roster. Even at 50% retained they simply cannot trade for Giordano.

No "might" about it.
If they do nothing between now and next season...they are almost 4 million over needing to add a dman and sign 2 F's by my count.

Meh. Anytime a team is in cap hell they, seem to figure it out or wiggle out of it, without losing anybody major. I presume Seattle will help them out this summer.

Acquiring picks and making trades is not an all or nothing agenda. Trade UFA’s, non-UFA’s, get picks and prospects and rebuild.
Make moves. Standing pat is extremely dumb. Apparently this is hard to understand for you.

Im sure they will but it is still going to cost them something. Likely a really good roster player.
But the point really was, there was no way TB could add Gio beyond this season without sending money out.
They just added 2 players without losing a roster player.

I was replying to your comment that Calgary could have got the pick and given the the better player, that is why I quoted it. No they couldn't have /
Anything else you are mad at Tre about has nothing to do with your comment or my reply.
