Yeah the Delia thing was overblown to me.
Coaches yell all the time, but a player yells at a teammate and somehow it's the end of the world.
To me the body language and just quitting on those two goals against the Flames are way bigger issues than yelling at the goalie to go to the bench.

Unhappy fans in Canuckland today as some season ticket holders went to the arena in the afternoon to catch practice followed by Q&A with the GM, but a late change was made and the team sent Stan Smyl in place of Allvin to answer to the fans instead...
New signs seen in their last game cleverly added one letter to the older signs used when Benning was GM and read, "thank you Jims".

While the flames are obviously pretty mediocre this year, at least we can take solace in the Canucks and Oilers sucking more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That trade around OEL has got to be one of the most frustrating things and probably exacerbated by the WJC recently if you are a Canucks fan. What a wreck this timeline is for them...and I am okay with it. The list is probably quite extensive in the what could have been, but off the top of my head:
-Baertchi vs Andersson
-Joelevi vs Tkachuk
-OEL and Garland and more cap jail vs one year of cap hell left and Guenther
-Signing Miller vs probably losing Horvat and assets that could have come back if they traded Miller at the deadline last year

Canucks didn't have Guenther at that spot, for what it's worth. So even if we made the pick and not the trade, we are probably still crying after this WJC.
Losing Horvat sucks, but he is so unlikely to have another season like this one that signing him to the type of deal he wants would also be a mistake. At the end of the day, trading Horvat for a ridiculous haul is the right decision any which way you cut it... which we also said about Miller and then magically signed him.
Life is pain.

I think the best course of action is for the team to Keep Horvat to try and take a run at WC2 and then let him walk for nothing in the offseason.

Posters were in fact arguing with me on here that it was a good move
Same with the Miller signing
Apparently I was just a Canuck hater Flames homer....which is true but I was right on both

I don't know of anyone who thought that the OEL trade was a good idea. It reeked of a GM trying to save his own job by sacrificing a future for a chance at a few playoff games. Just absolutely pathetic.
I am not as upset about the draft pick misses as I am about that. Every team has had poor draft picks and that is part of the deal with picking 18 year olds, sometimes they just don't develop (Tkachuk was the f'n easy pick though)... But Benning did his best to drive the next 5 years of Canucks chances into the ground on his way out the door. Just so many frustratingly poor choices all around.
The team is made up of overinflated contracts with underperforming results, a coach on borrowed time and a sense that nothing will get better in the near future.
The bubble run is what gave people the illusion that they were something that they weren't... When they were just a mediocre team that had unsustainable goaltending.

Yeah mark me down as not remembering a single poster here (including Canuck fans) who liked the OEL trade. The best I could muster was that Garland was a decent inclusion.

I've always felt that the Sedins had a huge hand behind the scenes in OEL becoming a Canuck, and I think they pushed hard to have Benning make it happen. The Canucks would've been free of those bad contracts they pushed on to the Coyotes in the trade for OEL by now, but instead "re-upped" their bad contract situation until 2027 at $7.26 per (Hughes expires the same year for $7. 85). So, so bad.

I also remember rumblings at the time of the Flames also being very interested in trading for OEL back then. Thank goodness Benning won that bidding war.

Pearson was supposed to be out 4 weeks, had surgery in early november
Has had to have 2 more since, and is now out for the season
Canucks posted Hughes answering questions online, cut out the question about pearson
