But again, that was one mistake. Dysfunctional means it's an ongoing flaw.

Boston has been one of the best-run organizations in the NHL for years.

I for one applaud Rutherford for his actions. I think he needs to say more in the media, way more.
Completely agree. I’d like to hear more about Rutherford’s tactical view!

Has it? I think they've done well despite themselves a lot of times.

What does that mean?

It is a results league. They have had among the most consistent results of any team in the league. Do you see any dysfunction? Have they lucked their way into being one of the most consistent teams in the NHL?

There has definitely been a lot of weird stuff in Boston going back to the Seguin trade and that video they released. Then there was the flubbing of 3 straight first round picks in the Kyle Connor draft. Lots of drama about Pastrnak allegedly asking out last year. There was a lot of drama around the Bruce Cassidy firing as well. Winning makes a lot of this less prominent because if you're losing the media focuses on it and blames the drama for poor play, but there's still a lot of turmoil there.

That MLB strikeout on 3 consecutive first round picks is legendary. You couldn't fail that bad again if you tried 20 times straight.

Eh, Zboril and Senyshyn were definitely big whiffs but Jake Debrusk is a single up the middle IMO.

Single up the middle where the baserunner breaks for 2nd and gets thrown out, when you look at the 10 picks after sebyshyn and you'd keep debrusk over maybe only 2 of them, svechnikov and roslovic

Whether the team you cheer for is good or bad, there is hope if you have someone in the GM job that knows what he's doing.

It's depressing as hell when you don't.

You're not particularly looking forward to the next game, and you're not particularly looking forward to the next few seasons.

They also hit grand slams in the years sandwiched between the 2015 miss.

Pasternak at 25th overall in 2014 is amazing he likely goes 2 in a redraft. Follow that up with McAvoy 14th overall in 2016 and he likely goes top 5 in a redraft.

If they were able to hit in 2015 and draft Connor, Chabot, Barzal that team would be insanely good making it work with mid-late picks.

Not the greatest choice to be honest. Guess Rutherford is going back to who he knows from Pittsburgh.

Boudreau was never Rutherford's guy, wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow's game in Buffalo is his last.

They really need to just sell everyone for scraps and try to out-tank the Yotes, Jackets and Ducks at this point... that means everyone possibly including Demko (who might remember how to stop a puck at some point), Horvat, Miller (for basically free at this point), Boeser, Kuzmenko, everyone. Even Hughes and Pettersson possibly if the return is strong, and it should be massive. No sense trying to get rid of bad contracts - acquire more of those instead. Sure you'll get fleeced on a lot of those deals but it just needs to get done, get the pain over with.

Demko's been pretty bad this season. Any success the Canucks could have this season revolves around him playing like a top goaltender. It's really hard to overcome bad goaltending in the NHL.
