Demko has been god awful. The Canucks record would not be much better even if our defense wasn't a tire fire. He had an off-season surgery that no one in the organization is willing to talk about and I'm concerned it was hip related.

Even Hughes and Pettersson possibly if the return is strong, and it should be massive. No sense trying to get rid of bad contracts - acquire more of those instead. Sure you'll get fleeced on a lot of those deals but it just needs to get done, get the pain over with.
Normally I am against teardowns when the best players are still relatively young, but something is seriously amiss in Vancouver.

As you suggest, they could get a ####-ton of picks and prospects for their top players, and could probably have a fairly quick rebuild. Keep Pettersson, Hughes, and Hoglander to build around, and move Miller, Horvat, Boeser and anyone else over 22 that they can get a decent return for.

And I don't care how bad Demko has been so far this year, he would return a king's ransom right now, if they were willing to take salary back (and why wouldn't they)? Just please, Vancouver, don't trade Demko to the Oilers.

Trade Demko and watch the backup try to prove himself and play absolutely lights out leading the Canucks to 9th place.

No Demko, No Bedard, and No Cup.

They should trade their backup too, until this weekend he hadn't lost a game in regulation in a Canucks uniform. Probably has some value to someone.

Re: tearing things down and re-building, it's not happening unless they are forced to from having another season next year like the one they're having now. They didn't extend Miller for 8 years if Rutherford and Co. don't believe in their current group. Sure, they could pivot, but that will result from admission of making a giant mistake and it's rare to see senior executives, like Rutherford is, admit to this. I think the Canucks will continue to try and move forward with their core group.

It doesn't matter what GMs or coaches or fans in Vancouver believe. If the sack of #### that owns this team decides the team has to go for it what are these people supposed to do?

Only three people have openly said "That's a terrible idea" in regards to making desperate moves to make the play-offs to Aquilini. Dave Nonis, Trevor Linden and (if you believe him) Mike Gillis. All three were fired within months of saying it.

Henrik Sedin admits cheating? Or is he pulling our leg?

The only thing we have done is at a faceoff, or at a few faceoffs, I’ve been thrown out, and I’ve skated over to [Daniel], and skated around him and then gone back in again and taken the faceoff. That’s happened a few times.
Kind of hard to believe that nobody would've noticed with the giant numbers on their backs!

Yeah, I'd think someone would have definitely noticed that.

They've talked about doing that quite often. Someone even had a video of it happening from 15 years ago.Linesman dropping the puck isn't looking at numbers.

If Jim Rutherford honestly felt this way he would just walk away. He is a fossil. He is independently wealthy and with nothing left to prove in the NHL. If he is still there, it is NOT because his hands are tied.

Wouldn't be the first time for him. He relied on his mobility (read: he's a guesser, a good one though) and his health/play style are reasons why people were hesitant to promote him as the next great goalie.

Generally, I don't find him to be a technically sound goalie to begin with.

And yet you're still, apparently, laughing out loud. So are the jokes no good or are you just easily amused?

To quote the Bloodhound Gang, the wise sages that they were, an old cow would rather put out than be put out to pasture. Now the context here is a bit different, but some people have a hard time walking away.

I thought it was actually kind of funny, but then I remember how much I hated that team.

This is bull ####. If Rutherford walked away tomorrow, he could walk right back in to a NHL head office of his choice next week. He is there because he believes in the roster, and thinks it can win, and he is probably egregiously wrong about it. This is his mess.

If he is already wealthy and has "nothing left to prove", then why the hell is he employed as General Manager of an NHL team in a Canadian market?

This makes no sense.
