Well that sucks, but what can you do. Serena probably doesn’t want to push it with the US Open so close.
Pretty much. I get it as the grand slams are the holy grail but I felt she pulled the pin the moment she realized winning the final was going to take a bit of work. Sucks for the people in attendance and the organizers as they deserve better than “I’m saving myself for the US Open”.

For sure. I believe her emotion was pretty real though. I think she understood the gravity of that decision in that situation as it was not ideal for her opponent to win at home that way. Tough call for her but ultimately she’s basically just chasing majors at this point in her career/motherhood.
3 time Grand Slam champion , former world #1 and the last member of the Big 4, Andy Murray makes his singles return today against Richard Gasquet. Hopefully Murray can get back to his best as he was world #1 before injures took him down.
when did you go? I was checking the online resale site in the days leading up to my visit, but it was like trying to get through Ticketmaster, nothing was happening. I knew about the resale line on the grounds, but by the time I got in, I was just kinda all queued out and wanted to wander around as much as possible. you probably got in much earlier and had the stamina to do a bit more waiting.
Well the day I went to experience the grounds(in 2016) was the prototypical London day where it rained a little bit often enough to cause a lot of delays, so because I wasn't really able to get into any match I got to sit in I figured I'd try for Genie's match which was last of the day. I ended up waiting about an hour, got a court 2 ticket for Ł5 and saw most of Kvitova-Makarova too. After Genie lost I probably could have gone back to get a ticket for Milos-Sock on Centre, but I was finally queued out by that point.

Happy Birthday to Pistol Pete! For my money the 4th best mens tennis player in history and until the Big 3 came he was the guy. Enjoy these highlights of his 14th Grand Slam championship points.
