Really? I always find the FFWD list aligns more with my experience.

I actually find it funny how out of touch this list is.
I mean Vietnam Spiceland was there as best Vietnamese until like 2008.

I make fun but it is the list that most closely aligns with my Pinko-Commie-Latte-Sipping-Urban Elitist heart.

This speaks for itself:
Best off-the-beaten-path day trip
1. Kananaskis Country
2. Banff
3. Drumheller

Hey now, I'm an inner city latte-sipping urban elitist, and I find this list doesn't really align with my tastes at all. For example, Una Pizza & Wine is consistently always rated as one of the best restaurants in many different categories, but I think it's merely ok. I wouldn't even put it in my top 20 best restaurants in Calgary.
And what idiots voted Charcut #3 for "Best Steaks". I like Charcut, but steaks aren't their specialty, and they usually only have one cut on the menu. Terrible.

I also find this list usually aligns pretty closely to me.
The Ship love is a little over the top, but that place is awesome.

It does appear that certain restaurants were the beneficiaries of disproportionate voting somehow. The Ship being the obvious one, but Charcut and Connie DeSousa are represented in several categories you wouldn't expect.
I'm glad no one has blown the spot on going to Vero Bistro for breakfast in one of these things. Impossible to get in to Blue Star and Diner Deluxe, people can keep lining up for those.

This one made me laugh the most. Banff is the most "on the path" place you can go from Calgary.

The poll complains about hipsters, then goes on to select CJSW, Sled Island, Lab Coast, Night Committee and Sloth Records.

Because of the methodology, there's a chance that the people complaining about hipsters are not the same people who voted for those hipster favourites.

Yeah this poll screams hipster.
And what the hell, Hifi? That place still exists? I've been in bathrooms bigger than that hole.
Also Kinjo and Globefish? hahaha.
And finally, the Ship is as average as a pub can be.

The entirely subjective opinions gathered by this magazine do not agree with my own entirely subjective opinions about various businesses, people, and trends.
The Ship & Anchor, however, must be some kind of hipster in-joke to be making this list consistently. Other than location, there is nothing that is not utterly ordinary about that place, and you might as well pick "Vanilla" as your all-time favorite exotic ice cream dish.

Nobody in the history of the world has ever admitted to being a hipster. They might be twirling their old-timey mustache and drinking their Stumptown, while perched on their Bianchi fixie...but they all think it's other guy whos a real hipster.

Aw. Una's actually one of my favourite restaurants. They do an awesome prosciutto and arugula pizza.
