Gotta admit I'm really interested in the St. Vincent show. I know it's only been out for a week, but the new record is an my early favourite for album of the year.

Plus this 2:28 of this:

Imagine it's a show not to miss!

I read Annie rehearsed St. Vincent 12 hours per day, leading up to this tour.

NPR commentators at SXSW said St. Vincent is the "Best show in a lifetime", and Annie is "the greatest guitar player on the planet". [NPR All Songs Considered]

A couple of my friends saw the St. Vincent show in Vancouver last night and said it was incredible. Definitely not to be missed.

Seeing who is appearing at all the other summer festivals, who else would you like to fit into Sled Island?

Replacements, Raveonettes, Interpol, Costantines, Drive-By Truckers, Modest Mouse. Try to bring back Jesus & Mary Chain.

I would love to see Interpol come here, I've never seen them play. Drive-By Truckers would be cool. And it would be neat if they brought Explosions In The Sky back too

I'd love to see them again, and it looks like they're free that weekend. I don't think they enjoyed the last time they played the festival, so that could be an issue.

I missed them, and the first Sled Island all together. I heard they played a real short set, they were supposed to play a show in Edmonton the next day but it got cancelled, I'd love to see them around these parts

We’re excited to announce the second wave of artists playing Sled Island 2014 in Calgary, Alberta!

Boston post-punk legends Mission of Burma, freak-folk flag bearers Blitzen Trapper, The Fresh & Onlys' fuzz pop, thrash metal from Power Trip, indie shoegaze Krautrockers Disappears, Vancouver punk stalwart White Lung, doo-wop garage rock from Shannon & The Clams, ethereal pop artist Julianna Barwick, Mississippi garage rockers Bass Drum of Death, U.S. Girls' experimental pop, alt-country heroes Elliott Brood, Berlin-via Montreal DJ Deadbeat, and Jerusalem In My Heart's return to Calgary post-2013 flood to finish their NMC residency.

In addition, guest curator and Riot Grrl co-founder Kathleen Hanna's personal picks include Screaming Females, Hunx And His Punx, Younger Lovers, Mindtroll, and Roman Polanski's Baby. Hanna will be performing with The Julie Ruin and the festival will also feature a screening of the documentary based on her life, The Punk Singer, with a special Q&A with Hanna.

Chelsea Wolfe is the only act really drawing me in so far. Disappointing.

Yea, who knows, I'd probably enjoy some of the bands, it's just in previous years it seems like there were more bands that drew me in.

Yeah, I suppose there should be a good mix of the familiar and the novel.

Comedy Line-Up:

This year, we're welcoming the voice of Comedy Central, Kyle Kinane, the mastermind behind both the Kroll Show and the world's greatest ever Red Hot Chili Peppers-based hoax, Jon Daly, plus Hari Kondabolu, writer for Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, who was hand-picked by Sled Island Guest Curator Kathleen Hanna. But that's not all! Also joining the line up we have the star of Rollertown and the annual "Pats 24 Hours" comedy marathon, Pat Thornton, Laugh Sabbath stalwart, Kathleen Phillips, and introducing hometown weirdo and Comedy Network contest winner, Amanda Brooke Perrin!

Most of the nights of the headliners are posted. My top 3 of the fest -- Spiritualized, St. Vincent and Julianna Barwick -- are all on Saturday. Could be bad.

If St. Vincent is after the Olympic Plaza show, which I expect it to be, then I'm going to buy a ticket to make sure I get in.

Pretty awesome. Definitely won't be missing Kyle Kinane an can't wait to see who else they'll add. They really should have a podcast lineup too.

I would be really stoked to see the replacements.
As for the attendees confirmed, I'm excited to see rocket from the crypt, white lung, Shannon and the clams and hunx and his punx. I used to be into mission of Burma, but their newest album turned me off them a bit.

Sled Island is thrilled to announce the full lineup for the 8th annual festival edition featuring over 250 bands, films, artists and comedians spread across 30+ venues concentrated in the downtown core and surrounding areas of Calgary, Alberta from June 18-22, 2014. Check out the incredibly diverse lineup for Sled Island here.

Recent additions to the lineup include the electro-party sensation of Dan Deacon, American producer, AraabMuzik, Brooklyn-based experimental pioneer, Oneohtrix Point Never, incredibly fun Norwegian producer, Cashmere Cat, lush house sounds of Blondes, a special edition of Punk Rock Fancy hosted by DJ Bob Mould, Constantines front-man Bry Webb's solo endeavour and festival fave Ian Blurton's latest, Public Animal.

Also announced are some of Calgary's finest, including the timeless power pop of The Mandates, hooky, guitar-laden popsmiths Lab Coast, the sheer ambition of 36?, the frighteningly catchy synthpunk of Teledrome and the audio-visual experience that is Holgans.

We've also added a variety of interesting acts from across Canada such as Crosss, woolworm, Jon McKiel, Open Relationship, Johnny de Courcy, Betrayers, Freak Heat Waves, Soupcans, xxx CLVR, Ghibli, Nervous Talk, Fountain and Maica Mia.

Yay - Fury Things!
