Is anyone finding the track counter is not working? I can be right on top of the one that is nearest by and there will still be three tracks. Also there are ones that randomly show up and they are not on my nearby list at all.

I don't get how the pulsating tracker at the bottom works either. It's supposed to pulsate if you are going in the right direction yet I walked away from the one I was trying to track and it still pulsated?

Been having a lot of server problems lately where I would just catch something and it app would hang at the pokeball once I caught something or it would get stuck at the loading screen and say something about not being able to log in.

yeah that's a bug and it's been like that for a few days, sadly ... hopefully they'll fix it soon. Hunting for Pokemon isn't even half the fun without the disappearing footsteps.

After watching a friend play this, and needing a bit more motivation to get out of the house for any reason, I am giving this a shot. Tried a trick I saw, and picked up a Pikachu for my first Pokémon.

Sure. When you first sign on, after making your avatar, you drop into the world. Three low level pokemon pop up right away for you to catch. Ignore them, and walk away. They'll pop up 3-5 more times. Just keep ignoring them. One of the times that they pop after that, it'll be with a Pikachu with them. For me, the distance I walked before Pikachu popped was down my block, and 1/2 way back through the alley. It was the 5th time the "starting 3 pack" was offered that he popped up with them.

The trick, as I read it online was simply "Ignore the starting pack of Pokemon you are offered 3-5 times, and you'll be offered a Pikachu next."

I got it (and 9 other tricks) from this "10 things to know before you start playing Pokemon Go" article in Forbes, of all places...

I was like "this is dumb". Then my wife challenged me to find the most Pokemon (neither of us every played anything Pokemon before this). We walked like 8k and our kids had a blast.

However. After everyone was asleep I found myself out wandering around alleys in my neighbourhood catching Pokemon I know nothing about. I was not alone. Like 20 other people were in a Central Park area of my community at 10:30pm.

Damn this stupid game. Although my family is going to use it to help us exercise more this summer.

The ContainR site in Sunnyside (the triangle lot across from Vendome) on 2nd avenue has 3 pokestops that you can just sit in the middle of easily. If you get bored of that you can take a 30 second walk to the LRT station for another one and there is a gym at Geo's haircuts on the north side of the station.

It'd be pretty funny if a video game is what gets kids up and off the couch exercising instead of playing video games....

Usually the catch still works despite restarting the game.

3 pokestops and a gym around Pumphouse Theatre and the Prairie Chicken statue by the river path.

So what's a rare one in Calgary? I heard rare pokemons are dependent on your region.

Depends on whether it breaks out or not. Sometimes if it broke out it will appear back where it was once you get back online, but I've had a couple pokemon disappear on me afterwards

I've only seen the region exclusive ones on this chart: Japan / Europe / North America / Australia

I had a Vulpix appear for me last night but it escaped the Pokeball and then ran away. I was a bit miffed.

Someone keeps poping a lure in my building. Got Squirtle, Psyduck, and Machop from it already today.
