Default Search by date range?

This bugs me every time I try to search for an older post/thread.

Is there any way to add a date range to the search functionality? If you're trying to find something from a few years ago, it can be tough especially if you're looking for a common keyword. Right now, the best you can do is one year ago or earlier.

I assume it would also be less-taxing on the system if you could search for a specific date range instead of forcing it to search through every post/thread on the site.

How taxing it would be depends on what information the database stores the post information, but I think date is one of the fields it's marked as used for making searches more efficient.

I checked to see if there's any configuration or options to enable to allow that in the software and there isn't unfortunately.

It isn't the same, but you can do a google site search, like:

site:https://forum.calgarypuck.com potato

Then select tools and do a date range that way.

Yes, that appears to do what I want. Thanks.
