Which flames ex-prospect do you have a soft spot for?
And why?
I was cheering for one of the tall big oafs to make it (Breen, Kanzig, Smith) but I think they are all finished now. I'm also already sad about Poirier and hope he bounces back in a big way. I also kinda liked Cundari and Aliu.
Anyone else you guys miss having around?

Poirier was a guy I had extremely high hopes for. I loved his game in junior. Then when he beat his addiction I had hoped his game would get back on track and he mite get to the show.

Poirier. Was really rooting for the guy from the time he was drafted, even more so after hearing about his substance abuse problems.
I remember a little about how John Negrin was looking like a decent prospect until the knee issues happened.

I always felt that Richie Regehr could have been a pretty good NHLer if he didn't start having concussion issues. For a while it seemed like he and Giordano were on par with each other, and while he may have never became the complete player that Giordano did, I was really rooting for him.
Same thing with Daniel Tkaczuk. He seemed to be advancing quite well until the concussion derailed his career.
Might as well add Krahn to the list. Another decent prospect ruined by injuries. Seemed like a good guy and he didn't give up for a long time even trying to go with 2 blockers instead of a glove because of his hand injury.

he was one I always felt badly for, likely wasn't on track to be a star, but his legacy as a draft bust really does fall to those couple of significant concussions he had circa 2001
otherwise was trending pretty well...first season in AHL leads a team (with quite a few future NHLers- mind you don't look at Marty St Louis PPG it will just depress you) in scoring, next year gets into 19 NHL games, mostly on the 2nd line (with Val Bure and Dave Lowry LOL) and scores at a clip that would put him in 4th or 5th in team scoring that year if pro-rated, and is a big playoff scorer in the AHL that year but that was it essentially

Leland Irving... He had a tough childhood with his cancer, and so I really hoped he'd find success.

Dustin Boyd for me. When I first started going to the flames development camps he was the first player I latched on to. I really thought he was going to be a good player for the flames. Mind you he was easily the best player during those first couple camps I went to. Just really hoped things would have worked out better for him. I went all out for him too as I was in my collecting phase. Have multiple jerseys, sticks, and probably the biggest Boyd hockey card collection of anyone. Still follow him every now and then and check in to see how he’s doing in the KHL.

I really had a soft spot for Wotherspoon and Agostino. Feel like those two really deserved more ice time than what they received here. Hopefully Wotherspoon can crack St. Louis' lineup if he can.

Micki Dupont was one, local kid who I actually went to school with for a while. Have to wonder given his AHL production if he might have gotten more of a chance if he'd been just a bit younger, given teams seem a lot more willing to play smaller d-men now.

John Gilmour struck me as making the show, just needed a few years. Looks like he made it. Honorable mention goes to Yuri Trubachev.

Eric Roy. I thought he was a steal at the 5th round because he was projected early in his draft year to go in the first. He even put up solid numbers for the Wheat Kings. Not sure what happened.
I would love it if random prospects did a Reddit AMA
